Primer Pocket Small Reamer Head

by Charles, from IN, United States Written on September 26, 2022
I literally wore out/dulling the old Hornady pp small reamer head, after estimated 10 years & many thousands of primer pockets reamed. Since I had given my spare to my son, I purchased some new reamer heads. Appear like the original item.

Hornady products are dependable. This small primer pocket reamer works great and lasts longer than other comparable reamers i have used even RCBS or Lyman. The reamer can be insert into a hand tool or into a Hornady case prep tool.

  • Quality

  • None

Good Primer Pocket Reamer

by TR, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on September 19, 2015
After purchasing 1,000 cases of once fired Lake City .223/5.56 military brass I knew I needed to ream/swage the military brass. So after reading reviews I purchased this reamer head to be used with my Lyman Case Prep Xpress Center the reviews mentioned that Hornady's heads lasted longer and the Lyman heads shown wear after a few prep sessions. So trusting the reviews I bought a Hornady small and large reamer. Have Not had the chance to use the large. But I did notice the Lyman actually removed all of the pocket crimp and yielded a slightly better (wider) bevelle to the primer pocket outer edge then the Hornady. They both work great I've found that using the Hornady in the 1st station and the Lyman in the 2nd station gave me the PERFECT reamed pocket when used in this order, last being the primer pocket uniformer a must for a uniformed primer pocket. It is time consuming but the results are well worth the extra step.

Small Primer Pocket Reamer

by mike, from NY, United States Written on December 4, 2014
Fastest most inexpensive way to remove military crimps from .223 brass. Recommend picking up a #8-32 round spacer from the local hardware store to use reamer in a hand drill. I was able to ream the pockets for @150 brass cases in about an hour. Primers seated easily after using this reamer. Shipping took 3 weeks due to UPS sending package to USPS, then to my address. Don't understand this arrangement.
Pros:
  • easy to use
  • Inexpensive
Cons:
  • does not come with drill attachment
  • shipping costs high

Hornady Pocket Primer Tool- small

by Ugly, from NC, United States Written on November 23, 2014
Bought the primer pocket tool to install on my Frankford Arsenal Platinum Prep System. Threads are the same, so it was an easy install. Tool works very easily and quickly to properly size the primer pocket. No more hand cramps from prepping primer pockets. Great time saving tool

Hornady pocket reamer

by Blowout, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on November 22, 2014
Worked out much better than the Lyman reamer I was trying to use. Put this in a drill driver and reamed about 5-600 223 brass without any issue. Used a Lyman hex extension that the reamer threaded into to allow use of the drill driver.

Best bang for your buck

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on September 28, 2013
When chucked directly into a cordless drill it quickly and easily reams crimped pockets and uniforms them. This simple little tool helps replace the need tk buy 200-400 dollar case prep centers. I would recommend it to anyone. I use it for .223 and 9mm brass. And after you use it the primers slide in silky smooth.
Pros: Very easy to use and does a great job
Cons: None yet
