Most Helpful Positive Review Impressed with 2700KP
This review is for the Hornady RAPiD Safe RFID Model 2700KP with KeyPad Xtra-Large 98172, March 2017. Was planning to buy the previous version, but the addition of the keypad made this a great little safe. I read through the owners manual to set up the safe and I have to say I was impressed not only with the product but also the technical writing. You could tell they did a nice design job just by reading the manual. Only thing they could have improved might be the wall wart power supply. I'd feel better if it was a little more hefty with a thicker, longer wire. That's about the only nitpic...

RFID wrist band is awesome!

This safe is great. I like how it’s hinged on the inside and auto pops open. Back up manual key is great. Having a key combo safe is nice but this is my first RFID and the fact I can just tap my wrist to the top of the safe and it pops open is awesome! Great buy!

Best Portable Safe Made

Own two for vehicles. Operating for 2-5+ years without failure. Batteries last a long time. Automatic opening. Thickest cable and body walls of any brand of portable safe, so heaviest. Only bolt down brands/models are more secure. Room for two medium or small handguns or one large & wallet+ keys.
Pros:
  • Multiple access modes. Reliable.
Cons:
  • Cable end connecter in box falls out easily
Best Used for:
  • Secure storage in car/RV.

Great mobile gun/valuables safe

I purchased the Rapid 2700KP safe as a home safe for my carry pistol. It's well worth the price as its'features offer so many ways to access your gun. With two power sources, a numeric code, and 5 additional programmed RFID devices it's amazing. Plenty of space for a 4" 9mm and extra mag. Definitely a nice and easily accessible safe.

  • Multiple RFID openers
Cons:
  • Some RFIDs are a little slow to open it

Decent safe for the money

Bought this gun safe for our first pistol, seems like it’s fairly secure to keep our first pistol in and away from prying eyes and little hands. No, it’s not going to be an ultimate home safe or made like a safe for Fort Knox, it is what it is for the price. I’ve made an attempt to keep my pistol as secure in my home and to get to quickly in an emergency.
Best Used for:
  • To keep little hands away from danger, and to secure your firearm in a decent locked box.

I AM VERY PLEASED WITH MY PISTOL SAFE THAT I HAVE SECURED IN MY BEDROOM. I'M GLAD I GOT THE LARGER SIZE AS I CAN EASILY KEEP MY PISTOL & SEVERAL MAGS IN IT. THE SAFE IS HEAVY & WELL-MADE. I PREFER THE CODE ENTRY INSTEAD OF BIOMETRICS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!

Perfect safe way to have 2 guns at hand in TV room.

The XL 2700KP safe sits cabled to my TV Chair and sitting on the table right next to me so I can access it in a flash if needed while keeping the guns safe from my 2 year old grandsons. I used to have a gun magnetized underneath that side table, but with grandkids coming over, just forgetting to put the gun in the safe once could prove disastrous. I've had the biometric fingerprint safes before, but they RARELY open the first or second swipe. The Hornady RAPiD Safe opens when I want it to, and if someone kicks in the front or back doors, that's exactly what I'm counting on it to do. Very easy to program too! I'm very pleased and impressed with Hornady RAPiD Safe and have ordered the 2600KP for the RV and the Nightguard now for the nighstand.

Exactly what you’re looking for.

This safe is secure and very easy to use. You’re able to use multiple entry methods which helps. Having a key as a backup is a must have and this comes with that too. I’m sure with enough time it’s possible to break into but in reality all safes can be with enough time and hardware. At the end of the day this safe works as advertised and is worth the money.

Gun safe review

This safe is pretty nice. Heavy material and well built. Has several ways to open it. The keys, wrist band and key fob all work well. The two little disk are not very effective in opening the safe. These disk would not be reliable in an emergency situation.The number pad on top is the fastest way to get into the safe wuickly

rapid safe

I ordered the rapid safe and it lives up to it's Hornady name. Works great and opens very fast. It can be opened in the dark if needed. If I find a need for another safe it will be a rapid safe. It is not fire proof but that is not why I purchased it.

Good, safe, rapid-access storage

I have two of these. Not only are they good for storing handguns, they are also useful for storing automobile key fobs. We like to access the safes via a key code rather than using the RFID tags. I like these safes a lot and may just purchase one more.
