J&E Machine Tech A2 Buffer Tube Combo Kit AR15 .223/.556 WILL NOT WORK
I purchased this tube and recoil spring/buffer for a 762 build. After opening the package I noticed that this spring felt very heavy.
I proceeded to finish the build using this spring and buffer tube.
Well I guess you know the outcome, it did not cycle.
After measuring the spring and comparing it to a std mil spec AR15 223/556 I noticed a big difference in the coil spring wire diameter.
It measured .080 mind you , a std AR15 .223/.556 measures .074. It might not seem a lot, (.006) but when you are compressing the spring to a specific length, it matters. It took almost 35% more pressure to collapse the spring to be equal to a .223/.556
I have read other reviews stating this kit works great.
I think this kit had the wrong spring
In my opinion, this spring will only work on a 308
I will contact Optics Planet to see if they will exchange or refund my purchase

all around satisfied
I was pleased with what I received. The product is very affordable and I didn't seem to have any cycling issue or malfunctions with my rifle.
I would recommend.
The buffer tube is well machined and simple to install.
I will definitely purchase another for my next build

Trying to make my LUTH Adj. Buttstock Operate
While the actually Buffer tube is correct, the buffer spring which was included is definitely incorrect, it is ever so over stiff, I can't even imagine it operating with a AR-10 platform, as I could not hardly operate even an oversized charging handle ! This A-2 Buffer tube and spring were specifically marketed as a AR-15 Buffer Tube assembly !
As I have installed the original AR-15 Buffer spring intended for a shorter adjustable Buttstock, at this Time I am unsure if it will function properly being excessively on the weak side being inside of a much longer A-2 Buffer tube !
As this was Marketed for a AR-15 platform, one would believe that it would include a properly functioning spring intended for a 5.56mm, maybe even a choice of spring designed and rated for other Calibers.
As I can't say the Buffer tube itself is not worth having, I can't recommend anybody purchasing an incomplete assembly.

Pros:
- It is a A-2 Buffer tube
Cons:
- Basically incomplete, as having an incompatable Spring
Best Used for:
- Hanging one of those kid thingies that spin around in the wind
