Most Helpful Positive Review JP Silent Buffer Spring System For AR-15
I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about this product when I ordered it. It is a little expensive for a buffer+spring combo, but once I got it installed in my rifle the sound different was immediate. This definitely does the job of getting your gun to cycle smoother and quieter than the 'standard' spring. Once installed, this sound reduction led to a new discovery about my rifle I didn't realize before -- the sound that my bolt was making. I won't mention the brand, but my melonite-coated BCG had very very small machine marks around the bolt (not super smooth like a NickelBoron bolt). ...

Seemed put out

by Oneball, from NV, United States Written on April 7, 2016
Ordering was easy, shipping was fast and product was as expected. Customer service on the other hand... To briefly elaborate, I ordered said product and realized that I had to go out of town last minute so I called up their Customer Service to explain my situation in hopes of not canceling the order but rather, just delaying it. Whether they could of or not, the representative acted totally "put out", he couldn't wait to get me off of the phone and totally contradicted himself as to why he couldn't delay the order, almost like he didn't want to put in the effort. Totally unexpected from Optics Planet. I will use Optics Planet again, I just hope I don't run into any issues that require me to deal with Customer Service.

As far as the produce goes, I personally recommend taking out the buffer retainer. Much easier install.
Pros:
  • Product Quality
  • shipping
  • Ordering
Cons:
  • customer service

BEST FOR A SUPRESSOR

by Gartar87, from FL, United States Written on March 28, 2016
THIS ONE OF OF THE BEST PURCHASES I HAVE EVER MADE FOR MY AR 15. THIS JP SILENT CAPTURE SPRING REDUCES THE RECOIL AND TAKES AWAY THAT ANNOYING CLINKING NOISE ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE SHOOTING SUPPRESSED. I LOVE THSI SO MUCH I BOUGHT ONE FOR MY AR-9 BUILD AND I WILL NEVER BUILD AN AR AGAIN WITHOUT PURCHASING ONE OF THESE. THIS IS THE BEST INVESTMENT YOU COULD EVER MAKE IN ANY AR
Pros:
  • SUPRESSED
Cons:
  • Pricey
Best Used for:
  • SUPRESSING AR

Does exactly what it's designed to do.

by Trever, from TX, United States Written on February 18, 2016
Makes shooting suppressed much quieter for the shooter. No more spring cheese grader sound. The rifle as a whole functions much more quietly. Definitely worth the money. I would not mind owning another in the near future.

less noise, smoother shot

by jones7773, Verified Owner from SC, United States Written on January 19, 2016
I just bought a colt le6940. it was the last one in stock with the company i bought it from, and, after some checking, it was one of the last ones available from a lot of vendors. that being said, i want to put the best of everything i can in/on it. i started with the buttstock, and, then, naturally, i wanted to change the "cheese grater" buffer spring. i've got one of these silent buffer springs in another colt i own(le6920), and, it works great, so, I'm expecting the same from this one. .... they are "good stuff"

AR15 Buffer and Spring

by CARY STARKE, from VA, United States Written on January 5, 2016
I bought this after reading many reviews about how wonderful it made their Rifle feel . I have not tested it yet , due to the weather in Va. currently. But I will say it fit without any issues or modifications on a fixed stock A2 style ANDERSON . I was a little concerned I would need to add a Quarter as per instructions on the Rifle length Bufferand recoil spring. Carbines with collaspable stocks verses Rifle ( fixed stocks) use different length Buffers. But JP gives you the extra plug to make it fit properly. There was no shake or rattle after install . OpticsPlanet will be more than accomodating if you call them directly on giving you the BEST DEAL out there . Sorry I can't say anything yet about how it makes the Rifle shoot .
Pros:
  • Quality/Price
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • AR15

Excellent Product

by molon1483, from OR, United States Written on December 18, 2015
Extremely high quality product that works as advertised. Allows for smooth quiet operation without that awful *sprong* cheese grater noise you get with a standard buffer spring. I would recommend that you remove the buffer detent, you don't have to but it makes install that much easier.
Pros:
  • easy installation
  • High Quality. Very Sturdy.
Cons:
  • Pricey but worth it

Quiet & Smooth

by jones7773, from SC, United States Written on December 18, 2015
Previous purchases have convinced me that JP Enterprises sells the products needed to keep your AR at peak performance. This Silent Buffer Spring is no exception ... The definition "butter" comes to mind. It is indeed, quiet & smooth. In fact, i have a new Colt Ar on the way, and one of the first things I will do to it is put a JP Enterprises Silent Captured Buffer Spring System in it. They are "good stuff."

Seems very quiet

by bighog85, from UT, United States Written on December 16, 2015
First off, this product just feels like a very high quality piece. I've not fired the rifle yet with it installed but just in hand cycling it is definitely much more smooth and quiet than the stock spring.
Pros:
  • High Quality. Very Sturdy.
Cons:
  • Expensive

Maybe the single most impactful upgrade you can buy

by Papertiger308, from TX, United States Written on October 30, 2015
I agree with other reviewers that this is a no brainer. All of my AR's have to have the JP captured spring system before I even go shoot. The feel is improved, and that nasty crashing of the recoil spring is gone. Do yourself a favor and try it out, you'll be glad you did!
Pros:
  • improved sound
  • improved feel
  • smoother action
Cons:
  • None.
Best Used for:
  • Any AR Platform
