Reviews & Ratings for KAK .750 Multi Position Dimple Drill Jig
— 33 reviews — Page 1
Match to gas block holes, set your set screw and drill, loved it. Review wants me to write more about it, spheres more, and some more yet, and even more yet. C'mon guys it's a jig, not a cure for stupidity, is that enough?
Construction of the jig is fine, my concern is the spot drill. When I first opened the bag I was leary of the length of the point on the bit.
I made several tries at getting the dimple depth so it was just enough for the gas block setscrew to fit and prevent movement. With that done I am now wonder...

I've used this jig on 2 barrels so far and it has worked perfectly on both of them. One thing I really appreciated was the included spot drill. I'm a machinist and was very surprised to see the spot drill was made by YG. YG makes high quality cutting tools and have prices to match. The fact KAK includes a high quality tool when they could easily include a cheaper drill and save themselves a few bucks speaks volumes to their integrity as a company. Next time I dimple a barrel I'll definitely be using this jig and will probably pick up drill stop so once I have it set I never need to worry about drilling to deep again.

I didn't finish. This product is made from steel-and I have used it on 3 occasions thus far. I am very pleased with it. The drill bit has remained sharp, so have had no problem with any of the dimples

This tool does exactly what it’s supposed to, and that’s put a dimple perfectly opposite the gas port on a barrel. It does a good job of that and seems to be a well made part. However I prefer to square the gas block perfectly with the upper it’s going on. Using this tool there is still the potential for the block to be a hair off after installing the barrel, even when using a MI upper rod. This is probably an acceptable tolerance for plenty of people, and if you plan on selling the barrel or installing it on another upper later maybe you’d want the block aligned this way. Personally I install a barrel to go with an upper, and I like to perfectly square the block and upper together. I got this tool mostly to see how well I’ve done without one, and don’t find it necessary. I actually had to align the gas tube because it was pushing on one side from the block not being square with the upper. I like my gas tubes floating in the upper and interfacing perfectly with the gas key. Keep in mind that drilling nitride barrels can be very tough no matter what tool is used.
