Most Helpful Positive Review Perfect barrel
I was needing a 22lr barrel for a 10/22 bench rest build and found this barrel on Opticsplaner.com at a discount price. I know the barrel is made in Germany sent to Kidd Innovative Design and then hand-lapped by them. The barrel arrived quickly after I ordered it. The quality and finish of the barrel are perfect. I have not fired it yet as my build is progressing slowly. But Kidd has a great reputation for selling well made 10/22 products.

Accurate.... I would say !!!!

by Bruce Thornton, Verified Owner from MO, United States Written on June 25, 2025
First of all, Optics Planet was great as usual and the barrel was easy to install, as I put the receiver in the hot sun and had the barrel in the AC, about 25 deg. difference not including the extra heat from direct sunlight.
I then did a quick barrel check with a bore light to look for any spoil from the factory, which there was none. Winchester Super X hollow point at 1300 fps. rated on the box. Nothing special there, just a quality rimfire ammo. I put my 49.00 Amazon scope on the rifle and walked the bullet holes to the bullseye. Not looking for groups yet as the directions say. But 20 rounds in I could see that I had an exceptionally accurate barrel. So I used a 3/8" bullseye at 50 yds, with the otherwise stock 10/22, including the stock trigger group. I have pretty decent trigger control with any trigger that is acceptable, but of course a lighter more crisp break is much better for checking true accuracy potential. Still had very little problem keeping the rounds inside the 3/8" bullseye at the 50 yds I was shooting. Can't wait to see what this is capable of when I do a trigger upgrade.

Kidd Bull barrel

by Andy, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on May 23, 2025
Tight fit into the receiver. Very accurate with the ammo it likes and tends to jam up with ammo it doesn't due to a tight chamber. Quality made barrel.
Pros:
  • Accurate
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Target shooting

literally amazed

by MikeOhio, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on January 24, 2025
I’ve bought and built more than a few higher end precision barrels and have never experienced the level of craftsmanship and attention to detail that this $230 Kidd barrel presents. I have no idea how they can sell this level of quality for less than some basic nitride steel barrels cost but here it is!
The chamber and bore has a mirror finish and the non threaded crown is beautifully finished without a spec of tool marks left.
The polished exterior and engraving are even and elegant. The SS barrel looks phenomenal in my black Victor Titan stock.
1/2” groups are on autopilot @50 with SK and Eley match extra.
But again, this level of craftsmanship in a bolt gun or a precision AR would easily cost >$500
Pros:
  • accuracy
  • Finish
  • Looks
  • Craftsmanship
  • Precision
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Precicion target shooting

Kidd is King.

by Blake Montrose, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on August 11, 2024
Had a green mountain barrel first that shot decent can't complain for the price but not the accuracy I was looking for, decided to drop the coin I have everything Kidd but the receiver. This barrel with SK long range averaged a .37 that was ten five shot groups! That competes with my CZ457 MTR impressive if you ask me. Save your money y'all and just wait to get Kidd stuff it doesn't even compare there 2 stage trigger is one of the best triggers I've felt in any caliber.
Pros:
  • Very accurate
Cons:
  • Little expensive
