Most Helpful Positive Review Great product!
This is NOT a cheap throw away laser. From the moment you open the box you sence the quality. I've owned a couple lasers under the $100 price point and they are junk compared to this one. It's well worth the money. It looks & feels well built. Something a soldier would mount on his weapon. Even the ...

Most Helpful Negative Review Great Illumination, Not so Great Mount
I received this item 2 days ago and was immediately impressed with the beam clarity and the ability to dial the beam width. The "stacked" design with the battery on top of the beam barrel makes the unit a little bulky for an M-4/AR mount system but should work well with a pistol rail. Unfortunatel...

NOT WORTH THE PRICE

by Zachariah Castle, Verified Owner from WA, United States Written on April 27, 2021
This product is very unreliable. The battery dies very quickly and doesn’t have a good connection because it will randomly turn off while shooting. The laser is powerful at night with the laser getting smaller at a distance. Spend your money on a good flashlight not this laser.

It works, but there are problems

by Hoo Kars, from CA, United States Written on December 19, 2018
Pros
Seems to work as other reviewers say: At night will illuminate a target out to maybe 200yds. Max beam tightness is about 2", and maintains this pretty well at range; beam dot is visible out to at least 1/3 mile. (Of course, such a tight beam can be used as a laser sight, but it will not illuminate/identify the target, so you need some other way to do that; got to see what you're aiming at!).
When the beam is aligned so its center is aligned with your sights, should work well as a combo flashlight and laser sight for nighttime home defense. At close ranges indoors, even a rather tight beam setting gives off enough peripheral light to see what you're doing, so you can use the one device to both identify and aim at a target.
Seems generally built fairly tough.
Cons
But...the screw/pin that clamps the unit to your rail is thin and flat at the end where it attaches to the QD lever, and there's a hole drilled into the flat end so the lever can be attached to it. There's so little metal there that the flat end of the clamping pin just snapped right at that hole the first time I tried to attach it to the rail. Yes, I could have been more careful, but I see no way it would have held up over time. Rather than return the unit I just installed an 8-32 bolt and a finger knob. It'll hold really well now, though I've lost the QD capability.
To test the low temp operability, I put it in the freezer @ 10F for an hour, then took it out to try it. It did light up, but it was so weak ...

  • works as combo flashlight/laser sight

Great product, even better customer service.

by Sus Scrofa, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on May 11, 2015
I love the ND3 line of products. I own the regular ND3 which is mounted on my .270 for hog hunting in North Texas. I recently picked up the ND-3AR Sub Zero for my suppressed .300 AR Blackout. Unfortunately, the ND-3AR SZ I got from Optics Planet was faulty. Not OpticsPlanet's fault, but still. The problem was this: You could unscrew the lens all the way out if you focused the laser too narrow. When in place, the entire lens piece would move in and out of the housing about 1/4 inch. I have to admit that I was very disappointed.

I happened to run across the GAMO booth at the NRA Annual Meetings in Nashville, where I asked about the situation. They assured me there was a problem and I should return it immediately to GAMO. I didn't want to do without it for what I thought would be a labored 4-6 week game of "telephone", but I just shipped it off and hoped for the best.

Less than a week after GAMO received the unit, I had my replacement. Not just one that was repaired, but a brand new one, sealed in the box, with ALL the accessories. This really restores my faith in "large company company service". I was very apprehensive about what could have been a messy problem, but was pleasantly surprised the quick turn-around.
Pros:
  • Great customer service
  • Perfect for Hog Hunting
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Hog Hunting
  • Night time varmint hunting

The coolest way to shoot at night

by slightly tactical, from IL, United States Written on September 30, 2014
I'll admit that I kind of bought this on a whim. Im not special forces or anything nor do I work in law enforcement. I bought this for my kel tec plr16 and after firing it with it at night, I'll tell you right now, there's no cooler way to shoot. The beam that this thing shoots out is ridiculously powerful.

PERP is now in the Green.

by AK Ranger, from AK, United States Written on September 20, 2014
Tested the green laser at dusk and in the pitch black digs of heavy brush. A local PERP was stalking the area prowling for a victim: perp got caught and is now out of action. The ND-3ZR is everything that was advertised. Illumination Point at the source is a bit of a concern; but if your on the receiving end it is what it is. Tactical application: proactive. Best used with standard optics. Still like IR/NV for special operations.

Same as the other ND-3. Very impressive on my limited review. Found wildlife within my area that I had no idea was even there. The wildlife did not respond to the light. This is an excellent product.
Pros:
  • Very nice design for the AR
  • Convenient quick mount/dismount
  • powerful beam.

ND-3 Unsatisfactry Hog Hunter

by Ken, from TX, United States Written on October 13, 2013
The earlier ND_3 will no0t work in cold below 35 degrees and the lens gradually gets mopre and mre dots until it is unusable. I have had this lase for 3 years and pid $300 for it. it definitely is not worth the money as a hunting tool because it is not rugged enough for sustained use. If this new one has overcome these flaws, I would be interested.
Pros: Long range
Cons: lens gradually becomes covered with dots
