AR-10 .308 with Leapers/UTG swat 3x12x44 ez-tap scope
I ordered this scope after reading many reviews on several sites. Very few reviews talked about the scope holding zero when used with heavy recoil rifles. I am giving my review after testing the scope on my AR-10 .308 rifle.
When I received the scope and held it in my hands, I could tell that it ...

Is this for toys or guns?
After reading great reviews I decided to buy this UTG 3-12x44 scope excited to mount it to my new AR. works great for my AR
This works great on my AR. Sighted in great and love all the features

Love this scope!
I mounted this scope on my new 308 build. I went to a local indoor range to zero it. Initially I was trying zero for 100yds but went with 75 instead. It was a bit difficult to track target impacts at 100yds. The scope itself was extremely easy to adjust when sighting it in. I took me about 20min and 15 rounds. Could have been less but I wanted to fire a shot at roughly 2sec intervals about 10 times to see if the scope mounts came loose or if the scope lost zero. The scope didn't budge. I don't like the wing nut lock for yhe scope mounts, but i could buy different ones. The eye relief is pretty good, I didn't have a an issue getting the cross hair on target. All in all I love this scope and recommend it.
Pros:
- quick install
- Eye relief , price, construction.
- Quick easy adjustable turrents
Cons:
- 75 yd limit for clarity
- Too many color options
- Wing nut scope mounts
Best Used for:
- 75yd shooting

Perfect fit and size for my Ruger Ranch Rifle in 7.62x39
Nice to find a compact length scope for a Ruger Ranch, it has many features that I use for low light hunting on hogs. The included caps and rings "medium'size" clear the barrel perfectly without having the overall scope length ending halfway down the barrel like a regular scope. I put a UTG 4-16x44 compact scope on my other Ruger Ranch in 556 NATO, that too is a perfect fit for that rifle. These scopes are rugged and why pay 4x as much for something that's going to go in the dust, dirt, rain and mud I say!
Best Used for:
- Ruger ranch rifles, 10/22 break down rifles, and carbines like a CZ Scout 457

after 5,000+- 556 rounds it still holds zero
Bought one during Obama to beat up in mountains after 5k rounds it still holds zero. Shoots sub moa. My fav scope. Bolt action shooters are impressed at the range as i can do fast follow up shots with accuracy. I have it on a $2k rifle. And i cannot convince myself to replace it. As it simple works and works well. Glass is clear even at full magnification.

You get more than what you pay for. Ive had this for over 6 years on a $2000 rifle. Shooting 556. Workd great. Fast acquisition of target. Clear glass. All the fancy options. Takes a beating. Shoots sub moa all day. I have over 10,000 rounds on it and no issues. Very impressed with it.

Good value for the money
I was surprised at the capabilities that this inexpensive scope offers. While it is a long way from a super nice scope at a super expenvise price it is a great value for what it cost. Super easy installation, just minutes literally on my picatinny rail. This things has so many features it is really going to take quite a while to figure out everything and get it tuned the way I want. Some may think this is a bad thing but with many products you have to appreciate all it can do to find out exactly where you like things set. I think that is a plus becuase I like to tinker and get things set just so I like them. While this scope may not end up as my final scope (who knows I still have a lot to learn about it) I think it will serve my AR-10 well for right now and for some time to come. The only complaint I have at the minute is the company cheaps out on the manual; it is sooo small and the print is so very tiny and you just can't read it at all. I had to download and print a manual (24 pages) so I could read it but you might not have that problem. As to how tough this scope is I can't say yet, not enough rounds downrange to really know but everything I have every purchased from Planet Optics has always been high quality, it is what they advertise. So far I am pleased, nice scope for the price, time will time how long it lasts.

Excellent scope
I put on an Air Rifle match at the local range. I purchased this scope to put on one of the PCP Range rifles (customers who don't have their own use this). It has proven to be a reliable scope and one of our match shooters liked it so much he bought one for his own rifle.
Pros:
- Great price. Clear glass.
Cons:
- none I experienced
Best Used for:
- PCP Air rifle

Amazingly clear glass for budget scope
I enjoy trying scopes out, going to the range, getting it dialed in. This scope was one of two i offered my dad as a gift. The other scope cost about $100 more and I was sure I’d end up returning this one but after using both, The SWAT IE offered more features, clearer glass and an easily repeatable zero the best. There are a few little things I didn’t love, but easy to get over. 1). The magnification dial seemed to have a little play in it before engaging- doesn’t affect it’s ability to bring you close and show you a clear picture. My other scopes have a rich feeling resistance- smooth operation. Means nothing when your pulling the trigger, but noticeable just the same. 2) Mil Dot is boring to me- Again, this is a preference and UTG does offer other reticles, and they charge for them. 3) the mounting rings have a tube shaped rail catcher, not a rectangle shaped like a section of rail. This allows the scope to be mounted more universally, but may allow the rings to shift at higher caliber shock forces are present in a picitinny rail. Rings should be pushed forward hard, in position, and tightened down to help prevent your shots from wandering. Consider a cantilever mount . I
Recently bought a higher dollar, big name scope and our UTG has clearer glass all through the range of magnification and a larger eye box as well. In the 1-500$ range- UTG has earned our business.

Leapers UTG Riflescope
I bought this scope for a newly built AR-15 (my first for this platform). Very nice features, well designed and well built. As I zeroed my rifle for the first time I was not able to shoot consistently, even on a good bench rest (sled). 30 rounds later and my shots were still not consistent. At this point I will mention that the rifle is chambered in 458 SOCOM. The mounts had all loosened on the scope, so I tightened everything up and tried another 5 rounds. Still not consistent! I believe the scope internals have loosened do to the high recoil of this caliber. That being said I would caution anyone from buying this scope for large caliber rifles.
Pros:
- Very good scope for the price. Packed with desireable features that appeal to a wide spectrum of rifle enthusiasts.
Cons:
- Not for Large caliber, heavy recoil rifles!
Best Used for:
- Target shooting, and perhaps hunting game as large as local deer.
