Most Helpful Positive Review Mark 4 spotting scope
I would highly recommend this spotting scope to anyone looking to shoot long range. I recently used this product during a long range rifle course at gunsite. While spotting I was able to find all the given targets and using the TMR reticle approximate the distance. We were usually shooting 800 yards and in, but I could clearly find and mil the targets that were at 1200 and beyond. I have always been a fan of Leupold and will continue to use their products in the future. Pros: excellent clarity, easy to set up, great magnification Cons: cost

One of the best!

by Wm Palmer, from SC, United States Written on September 25, 2017
I have owned this for several years. it is used with my Rem 700 custom by Badger that wears a Leupold mk4 scope with TMR...when you work with a spotter as you should..it makes calling the shots simple, easy and intuitive once learned for both people. You are using the same reticle! Typical Leupold quality. You can not go wrong.

Few choices if you need a reticle

by Jack, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on November 29, 2016
Overall, a good product. The glass is clear. The focus is stiff and there is no separate fine focus. It may loosen up with use but the downside is it is difficult to maintain aim even on a tripod while turning the focus knurl. The main reason I bought this was for the reticle which works well. If I didn't need the reticle I would have probably gotten a Vortex HD 60 power which has great glass as well and is half the price. Alas, Vortex discontinued reticles on everything but their monoculars.
Best Used for:
  • Spotting where milrad ranging is required

Bird watcher

by Lisanp, from FL, United States Written on May 18, 2016
I use this scope for bird watching. It is incredible clear and bright and gives me a great perspective of the nature from a good distance. For best results I recommend you buy a quality tripod. It feels very rugged and has a quality case.

Leupold does it again

by Dave, from TN, United States Written on September 27, 2015
Great scope. Great clarity. Easy focus. Works great on a small tripod or tall tripod. Have used on a 900 yard range and able to see all aspect of man sized targets. I use this scope for the shooting range and general recreational viewing of all types and at all hours. It is clear and detailed throughout it's very practical and useful magnification range. This scope was a big hit on the range and it saved a lot of legwork walking the 100 yard lanes to check shots. The clarity and brightness are awesome. The field of view and details you can see during max magnification are great. The focus was easy as well as the zoom. The lens caps fit snuggly and don't feel like they will pop off unexpetedly. We were checking for .30 cal, 45-70, and .22 caliber holes in the targets on the 100 yard lanes. Fortunately the scope is a lot better than our eyes and we were able to see the holes in the targets when we did manage to set the sights correctly. I can't say enough good things about this scope right now and I think it's a home run for my first spotting scope.

Top notch field gear

by DS, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on January 29, 2012
This spotter performs on par with much larger units and therein lies the beauty of te MKIV...it fits nicely in a small backpack. Crystal clear glass combined with the TMR reticle make for an optic perfectly designed with field operations in mind. I've used numerous high-end spotters and the MKIV's size and simplicity cannot be overstated. A must have.
Pros: Size/performance
