Leupold SX-1 Ventana 2 spotting scope
Once very active in competition shooting(long range) and had sold previous spotting scope and getting back into the game needed another one. Well, wanted smaller unit, more magnification, and durable and weather proof as much as possible. Have always been a fan of Leupold products and did quite a bi...

Just the facts
This is my first spotting scope so I can't really comment on whether it is better or worse than other scopes in its class. What I do know is I can barely make out hits at 300 yards with this thing. When I say barely I mean I am guessing as to where the hit was or if there was a hit at all. I got thi...

Disappointed on this Leupold product!
This is the first Leupold product I'd like to return. I purchased the kit which includes the tripod. I have a couple issues:
1) The scope base and tripod mount don't mate well. There is a lot of play between the two and it is difficult, if not impossible, to tighten connection dow;
2) I can't focus clearly on any target past 200 yards. Anything past that is a guess.
Part of the problem here is my inexperience with spotting scopes, and my expectations were too high. I figured I could spend $350.00 and spot out to 1,000 yards. My mistake. I'm going to be eating this one.
Also, I learned there is a 45-day minimum lead time on sending stuff to Leupold for repair. Not what I expected from this fine company.
I still love Leupold, but would avoid this product.

Leupold Ventana 2
Bought this as a gift for my husband and he couldn’t be happier. It’s light weight and compact enough to add onto his hunting gear and enough power for those trips and the range for use up to 300 or so yards. The glass is clear and good quality to use in low light conditions. Optics Planet pricing and coupons made it well within the budget. He just wishes this line from Leupold was made in the states to match his other Leupold gear.
Pros:
- good quality
Cons:
- Made overseas
Best Used for:
- Hunting trips and range time out about 300 +
Would recommend: Yes

great scope for the money
I have had the 15-45X60 for several years and for the money spent I am very pleased with it. I have only used it out to 350 yards for target spotting. I use solid white paper with a 3" shoot-N-see dot at that distance and have no problem seeing my .308 and .224 hits. at 350 yards to my eyes hits in the black of a traditional bullseye target are difficult to make out for the .308 and not visible for the .224 but for the money spent it's probably asking to much to expect more. if I had to find a con the focus adjustment is a little touchy and it's fairly large, takes a lot of room in my smallish backpack. it has been exposed to rain a few times and spent hours well below freezing has not fogged up. for my current needs I would not hesitate to purchase another one. however, in my opinion, if your looking for hits much outside 350 yards it simply does not have the resolution.
Pros:
- value
Cons:
- eats backpack space
Best Used for:
- your decision

Not much time with it yet.....
Just got this and have only had it out of the box once. I set it up and looked out in the yard and down the street. Very clear and very stable on my Primos 3rd Gen Shooting Sticks. Looking forward to using it on the range and in the field later this fall.
Pros:
- cost , quality , lightweight
- Warranty Policy
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Range
- field

Big spotting scope but not heavy
I purchased scope only with no tripod. Scope came with soft carrying case, very nice. Have tried the scope around the neibough hood seems very clear, I have not got time to take to the range yet so I coul not say much but I know it’ll do just fine.
Pros:
- Light/good clarity
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Spotting and evaluation of terrain or game

solid scope
For $300 its a pretty solid spotting scope. You'll see impacts on splatter targets at 200 yards, but not much beyond. I bought the scope to witness impacts on steel from long range and this will do the job.

Fast Service
After ordering my Leupold Ventana 2 spotting scope, I kept thinking it will be several days before I get the scope, because they have to process the order, then mail it.... To my surprise, in about four days I had the scope at my door step. The quality of the service was that of the Leupold scope itself, top notch. Thanks Optics Planet.

Nice package deal
I've never had the opportunity to use high dollar spotting scopes, but after taking this to the range I was more than satisfied for the price I paid. The controls are simple to use and the glass was plenty good enough to see even my 223 shots, although I was limited to a 100 yd range so I'm not sure just how far out this could comfortably go. Construction is solid, even though the made in china label was plenty easy to spot.
I was somewhat disappointed in the tripod, which only extends about 2', but other reviews had warned about this and really you can't expect the world at this price point. The only real disappointment was the connection point to the tripod - this was plastic and felt quite flimsy. Also making fine adjustments seemed tricky, as the plastic would bend just enough by the weight of the optic to affect fine tuning. I found myself adjusting the optic quite a bit or simply holding it steady with one hand to get it right on target.
Nonetheless the optic itself does it's job and this is a fine choice for bench shooting, and it did the job for me and my everyday range use considering the low price point.

In line Leupold SX-1 Ventana 2 Spotting Scope (15 - 60 power)
I would rate this spotting scope above average for the money. A good in between for performance and value. It has good clarity for use on a 100 yd. range to make out .17 cal. bullet holes. I was surprised that the scope body was plastic, but everything was solid and secure. It worked as advertised. I would recommend getting a good solid tripod to mount it on to keep it in place solidly at hi-power settings. A little wind can make for a shaky image. All in all it is an upgrade for me and I'm satisfied with its performance.
Pros:
- good price for what you get.
Cons:
- I had to clean the mounting thread hole with a tap before mounting.
Best Used for:
- Checking your targets at the range.

Great scope!!
I bought this spotting scope to use at the rifle range. I’m able to see .30 caliber holes at 200 yds on white paper. The scope is clear and sharp, for the price it’s a great buy!! I wish the mounting bracket was adjustable but it’s in a fixed location on the bottom of the scope. Excellent glass for the money, but it’s a Leupold and I expected nothing less!!
Pros:
- Light weight, clear sharp images
Cons:
- Mounting hole is in fixed location
Best Used for:
- Highpower rifle, hunting, bird watching
