Most Helpful Positive Review Decent Spotter
Great for its category of spotter scopes. I would recommend this for a starter scope because of the glass quality. Chromatic aberration is seen from the 40x magnification to 60x. Eye relief is disappointing, had to shove my skull into the eyepiece above 35x. Although its drawbacks are inconvenient, ...

Most Helpful Negative Review Leupold made in China
If I knew this leupold spotting scope was made in China I would never of bought it. In the past leupold was a good American made scope that’s why I chose this one. If I can send it back I am going to 20-60X60 HD spotting scope if you love our country don’t buy this product by leupold

Purchased the Leupold sx-2 HD spotting scope for spotting targets at 300 and 400 yards at the range. Didn't get a chance to try it yet at the range but used it around home not as clear as I expected hope Iam able to see shots at the range. That said still nice scope for the money.

Sight Then Sound

by J. Ayala, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on July 16, 2024
I recently purchased a Leupold SX-2 Alpine HD 20-60x60 at Optics Planet ie July (2024). I am pleased to say that i hi honestly like it a lot. Ok no it's not Japanese Glass but it still looks great. Everything is crystal clear, the focusing is right on, for what you're getting at this price range it's perfect for my own personal use. I take it with me to the out door shooting range & I'm very happy how it performs.

Rivals Vortex

by Eric, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on May 1, 2023
I own a Leupold scope and decided to stick with their products. I needed a spotting scope as walking back and forth to check my shots was getting tiring. I was somewhat hesitant when I saw the low ratings on this scope, but brought it up anyways when I researched it on other forums. I haven't tried it on the field yet but tested it out from my front yard and haven't noticed any issues yet. The picture quality is good and mounts on my tripod without any issues.

The majority of the bad reviews are from die-hard Americans that are upset that this was made in China, which you can tell right away from the pictures provided (White lettering, all magnification levels are Xs). I feel like they never attempted to use the product since it conflicts with their beliefs or something.
Pros:
  • Good price range
Cons:
  • China made
Best Used for:
  • Outdoors
  • Target shooting

PAY THE MONEY FOR A GOOD ONE

by Good for the Archery Range Only, from CA, United States Written on July 4, 2022
Decided to gamble and pay try a cheap product. You pay what you get for. Worth the gamble to really realize that spending the money on superior glass is worth it! It will do for the archery range but I would jot recommend this for glassing the west.

Meets Expectations

by Stephen, from CT, United States Written on April 13, 2022
Scope appears to be sufficient for backpack hunting. It is small and lightweight making it ideal for packing deep into the backcountry. The warranty of Leupold is also a big plus. It seems to lose clarity at high magnification at long range. This may be an issue if you are trophy hunting for elk or mule deer and you were trying to make a decision about a stalk based upon antler size at a great distance. But for me that is not a problem. If I can see antlers on a mule deer or elk at the ranges I am talking about, that is all I need to know. I would not purchase this model if I was using it from the road or close to the vehicle. I would get a larger objective for that (at least 80mm).
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • Warranty
  • size for backpacking
Cons:
  • Clarity
  • Small Objective lens
Best Used for:
  • Multiple Day Backpack Hunting
