Leupold VX-3HD
Just purchased this for my new .17 Ruger precision. Great reticle! I really like the thin cross hairs as it doesn’t block your view of the target, which is ground squirrels for my application. The .17 gets pushed around in the wind a bit, so the hash marks for windage are very useful. The HD glass...

Leupold vx3hd
Long time fan of Leupold scopes. But this item is overpriced for what you get. No better than the prior version of this scope. The Vx3i was just as good for a lot less. Adding HD to the name does not improve this scope enough to warrant its price.
Leopold always delivers
Small package but a lot of function. Great glass and reticle design for older eyes.
Pros:
- Compact & light
Cons:
- None

Leupold VX-3HD Side Focus CDS-ZL Wind-Plex 4.5-14x40mm Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube
The Leupold VX-3HD rifle scope fully lives up to the highest standards of quality, clarity and robust performance hunters expect of Leupold products. This scope went on a Ruger No 1 in 220 Swift which is capable of shooting as straight and fast as the shooter can see. Unfortunately mediocre glass usually means not too far. And unless a person is willing to lay down almost a grand, stellar performance is out of their reach. But the VX3-HD is very reasonably priced. And with the CDS system I can simply dial in the distance on the Hunter Turret , make the shot, then return it quickly and accurately to the positive Zero location on the turret. It's always linear and accurate and extremely repeatable. Who could ask for more at any price!
Pros:
- Accurate, repeatable, clear, robust
- ccurate, repeatable, clear, robust and reasonable in price
Cons:
- Not cheap, a tad heavy and a little bit stiff
Best Used for:
- hunting and targets
Would recommend: Yes
Leupold never fails me
I have using Leupold scopes since the 1980's. I have the Vari-X II and the Vari-X III scopes on several rifles and I haven't seen the need to replace them with newer scopes. Leupold definitely stands by their lifetime warranty. I have a scope to Leupold on 2 separate occasions for repairs; due to my errors and not an issue with a scope failure. I recently had another brand scope that failed to track correctly. The unnamed brand indicated that it had a "lifetime warranty". When I contacted customer service, I was told that "lifetime" only applied to scopes 15 years old or newer...never again. For the VX-3HD scope, the image is crystal clear, and the turret adjustments are crisp. A great scope for the money!
Pros:
- Side focus feature
Cons:
- Leupold scope caps are expensive
Best Used for:
- Target shooting and hunting

great scope
Clear glass easy to sight in the scope. Love the side focus. I haven’t sent off for the cds turret yet but I’m sure it will be worth it. I’m a huge fan

Leupold VX3 4.5-14 30mm
Optical quality and tracking with the elevation and Windridge are excellent. I think the field of view is somewhat decreased from earlier models because of a mask that makes the edges sharp. Not sure about that. I have this on a long range gun I use at the range. I would buy this scope again for the price.

Mr. President
Leupold took what was a great scope and made it even better. The CDS takes math out of the equation and puts you spot onto the game much quicker. Whether a first timer or a long time hunter I highly recommend the new Leupold scopes.
