Most Helpful Positive Review Standard Leupold Excellence
I have used the VX-3 scope line for years, but only started using the Boone & Crocket reticle system a few years back when I went on Safari in South Africa. If you follow the instructions and match the ballistic requirements for the reticle system, you're in for a treat. The stadia lines in the scope are dead on for the advertised ranges. If you're loads are travelling a little bit faster or slower, you can simply shoot for proof and adjust for whatever your difference is. In my case, a near perfect velocity match in .243 Win runs dead on while a slightly slow 7mm-08 prints only an inch l...

Great customer support

by Lee Odale, from TX, United States Written on October 3, 2019
I have several Leupold scopes, never had a single problem with any of them. I will not buy another brand scope and today I know why. I have a pet Remington 700 stainless rifle chambered in 7 mm mag. I own property in the Texas Hill Country where I have axis and some other exotics that let me hunt year around. I apparently lost one of my turret caps at my last sight in. I called Leupold today to purchase a replacement, they took all my shipping information and when I tried to give them my credit card information, I was informed that they would be sending me a replacement at no charge. That’s customer service. Thanks Leupold, long time customer here.

Excellent Scope

by Steven Johnson, Verified Owner from MD, United States Written on April 24, 2016
Full disclosure is in order: I own several Leupold scopes, the VX-3 4.5-14x40 being the most recent purchase. The wind plex reticle is awesome and so is the lifetime warranty. For the money, the VX-3 is an excellent high value scope. It's bright and clear, returns to zero perfectly and is just a pleasure to use. This scope will be on my Rem 700 VTR in .308 when I head out to Wyoming this fall for an antelope hunt.
You can spend a LOT more money than what this Leupold costs and not get much for the money. High value, highly recommended.

Great Value

by habs00, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on December 22, 2015
I own multiple VX-3 scopes. They are well made and do a tremendous job in low light situations. Relative to more expensive scopes this a great deal especially with the $100 rebate. Scope also comes with a nice neoprene cover.

Leupold vx3

by Rjwill5, from FL, United States Written on December 22, 2015
Best scope for the money. The visual pickup is unsurpassed in even more expensive scopes. The eye relief is better than comparable Zeiss and vortex scopes. This is now my 3rd leupold and hopefully more will follow. With the price I made sure to do some homework and could not find a better product.

Nice clear scope!

by JL, from LA, United States Written on December 15, 2015
It is a really nice scope. I really like the CDS feature as you can just turn the dial and know your crosshairs are right on. I chose the Leupold over other scopes as after the rebate it is really hard to beat! I also really like the Alumina flip-open scope covers as I hate plastic slip on lens covers.
Pros:
  • light weight
  • Warranty
  • Price,
  • Made in USA
  • Can use Alumina Scope Covers as others only can use aftermarket plastic
  • CDS System
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • hunting

leupold vx 3

by keith, Verified Owner from PA, United States Written on July 26, 2015
I purchased this scope with the boone and crockett reticle. The BDC seems really short, wish they would add a few more ticks for longer range shots. It is Leupold, love the lifetime warranty and quality of the product. Can't wait to get it set up on my 7mm. Optics planet rocks, got a great deal!

Leaupold Scope (Varmint Reticle)

by Rich, from NM, United States Written on July 9, 2015
Very good product, the varmint reticle is very fine, it is a little hard to see in low light but for prairie dog hunting it is great. I have not been disappointed with any leupold product I have owned.
Pros:
  • Clear
Cons:
  • None

My go to scope company

by BK Special, from HI, United States Written on March 10, 2015
I am a Leupold fan. This is my third Leupold VX-3 scope I had purchased and I use their binoculars as well. Nothing fancy on this scope, just the basics and it serves me well for my hunting needs. The scope is bright, doesn't leak while hunting in the rain, target/animal is crisp, no fogging and has been very reliable for me. My groupings are okay and are only set back by my ability, not the equipment. However, enough to put down the animal fast and humanely. I typically use the Leupold scope mounts and rings for all my rifles keeping everything consistent. The system held its zero even after I did a bonehead move of dropping my rig after tripping and falling into a small hole. Usually, I try to sacrifice my body first cause I can heal, but not that time. The only thing I may change is the scope mounts. I would like to try the Burris Signature Zee rings so I do not have to rely solely on the scope's elevation/windage to correct the scopes alignment with the rifle. As far as the warranty, I personally have not had the opportunity to test the service out. However, my partner received(free) a Leupold VX-2 scope that was fogging from his buddy. He sent it to Leupold to fix and was charged $0.00. Can't complain about that. On a side note, all my Leupold optics were purchased from Optics Planet. Delivery is fast and prices are fair. However, I would wish their "free" shipping would be extended to Hawaii.

As good as it gets

by Tennessee Hunter, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on February 9, 2015
Bought this scope for a "walking varminter" Kimber 84M in 22-250. Was a little worried about having a 14X on the high end of the magnification without an adjustable objective but mirage hasn't been an issue as of yet. I don't plan on shooting 1000 yards anyway but a 500 yard poke at a furbearing varmint is certainly feasible with this setup. Was also a little worried about the light transmission at high end in low light conditions but the scope is actually brighter than my old eyes are in low light. I can't figure it out but I can tell you that I can see through this scope in low light when I can't see with my naked eyes (actually wearing glasses but you get the jist). There are probably better options for prairie dog hunters and the like but my varminting is limited to coyotes, fox, buzzards and armadillos. Ordering the CDS dial today and looking forward to experimenting with that new toy. I love the idea of a 400 yard zero with a click stop for 450 and 500 yards. I am cheating a little on the range because all the shots are in 40 acre plots with baited corners and the longest shot will likely be 440 yards from a rest off the top of a round bail. Kinda cheating I guess but I see no need to make the critters suffer when I can get comfy and make quick and clean kills. Haven't used this in the field yet, just punching holes in paper and working up handloads but the scope is a keeper and for the money I don't think there is a better buy out there. If there is, let me know!
Pros:
  • Bright and clear
  • Plenty of magnification in a small package
  • No need for an adjustable objective with this scope
  • Mirage has not been an issue
  • Perfect scope for a 22-250 coyote/fox walking varminter
Cons:
  • I wish they came 2 to a package for the same price
