Rob the independent semi-liberal moderate's Review of Lion Gears Cantilever Riser Mounts

The two screws provide solid attachment of this to a picatinny rail. That, however, is the only highly durable part of this product.

The design fails to provide vertical support for the cantilevered portion of the riser, making it prone to bending if it anything puts an upward or downward force on it. (Compare this to YHM's cantilever riser, here: https://www.opticsplanet.com/yankee-hill-machine-six-inch-rail-extension-0-5-inch-riser-yhm-9473.html where the base supports the cantilevered rail section by slowly angling upward to it instead of stopping at a 90° angle just past the last cross-bolt.) This does not make it ideal for optics that require precision, specifically, anything more accurate than a red dot.

The anodization on it is roughly average quality.

The price on this is great. It is notably cheaper than other risers of about the same size. Unfortunately, due to the structural weaknesses, about all I'd use this for is mounting a flashlight slightly farther forward. It currently sits in with other spare parts.
Pros:
  • Price
  • tastes like machine oil
Cons:
  • Weak design
  • poor structural design
Best Used for:
  • forward mount of flashlight
  • not a spoon
