The barrel came in pretty good shape. The front sight base was pre pinned, and it’s a nice sight base. Only issue I had was, upon initial test firing, the gun would keep short stroking. Tore everything back apart to discover the gas port on the barrel was under sized. I believe it was around .046 inches. According to the AR guru’s it needed to be around .070-.078 inches. Used a 5/64’s reamer and made the gas port bigger, and now the gun cycles flawlessly. Still haven’t gotten a chance to test accuracy however.
Luth 5.56 SOCOM 14.5 in barrel
The finish is greatly. The markings are on the bottom, just behind the muzzle. The M4 feed ramps line up well with the M4 feed ramps on my Colt upper. It feeds 55 gr PMC X Tac 5.56 and 55 gr PMC Bronze 223 with no issues. I haven't checked for accuracy yet. I wasn't aware at first, but this is a non chrome lined barrel or chamber. So hopefully it will be slightly more accurate. The front sight is F marked and it DOESN'T come with the post ,spring, & detent. The muzzle threads were clean and it took very little shims to time the A2 muzzle device. My bayonet fits the lug nicely also. Everything is well done in my opinion. The markings under the barrel shows LUTH-AR 5.56 1-7. And the barrel profile is correct

Be American! Buy American! This is my third Luth AR barrel and all I can say is I'm impressed. I have several; thousand rounds through the three barrels and they are still solid, accurate and look good. The fit and finish is very high and the installation/compatibility with other standard Milspec parts is just fine. If you like the shorter barrels or are building an M-4 clone, then this is the barrel for you. The price point compared to other brands is very competitive and the performance is very good as well.

Almost there
Exactly what I was looking for my retro build. However, I was very disappointed that the barrel didn't come with the front sight, spring and detent included. Also, it does not come with the Delta ring, spring, and snap ring. These are things that should be included at this price point.

The Luther socom 14. 5 AR barrel with fixed front sight post and barrel nut has been great so far it comes very stripped so you can make the rifle how you want very happy with my purchase will purchase more from opticsplanet in the future
