Most Helpful Positive Review A2 sight for defense
fits perfect, works as original equipment. It's an excellent fit for A1 receivers to convert them to a defensive posture weapon with the ghost ring rear sight

Works Great For AR Pattern Pistols

by Just Some Old Man, Verified Owner from SC, United States Written on May 5, 2026
I bought a DPMS Panther Arms Kitty Kat 7.5" pistol upper that came with the smaller aperture rear sight (I think that it was called the A1 style sight). Anyways, it was too small for quick use with a pistol and the extra precision afforded by the smaller aperture wasn't needed for a pistol (in my opinion). This works much better for my application and I well pleased with it. I would definitely buy it again!
Pros:
  • Much faster traget acquisition
Cons:
  • None in my opinion
Best Used for:
  • Great for quick, short range work.
Would recommend: Yes

Apertures are not centered

by Ohio Rover, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on May 3, 2026
This is the second A2 aperture and it has the same exact quality control problem. The small apature and large apature are not centered. The small aperture is pretty well centered in the casting but the large amateur is a couple hundred thousands off. If they're not centered together one or the other is not going to ever have a good zero. This is not the first time I've had quality control issues with Luth- AR parts
Pros:
  • Low cost
Cons:
  • Off Centered
  • Unusable
Best Used for:
  • none
Would recommend: No

A2 rear sight aperture

by Jimmy C, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on April 9, 2026
I use these to replace the A1 apertures on my retro builds. My eyesight isn't good and the larger opening of the A2 helps me big time in acquiring the front sight post when aiming. The finish is correct and so is the quality.
Pros:
  • great for A1 aperture replacement
Cons:
  • None
Would recommend: Yes

Luth A2 rear sight aperture

by Jimmy C, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on December 26, 2025
If you're not a big fan of the A1 rear sight aperture and you're looking to swap it out with a standard A2,this is it. The finish is correct also. Mine doesn't sit down flush in the receiver aperture pocket because the A2 sight is slightly taller on the side with the larger peep sight hole. But it's not enough to cause a problem when looking through the smaller long range hole. I may file down a small amount of the loop on the larger hole so it will fit down in the recess thats machined out of the rear sight area so it will sit flat. But it's a direct replacement for the A1 sight aperture thats in the A1 carry handle upper receivers. If you decide to file or grind on the aperture, just get a paint pin to cover the bare metal.
Pros:
  • great replacement for an A1 rear sight if you want one with a larger close range peep hole in the aperture.
Cons:
  • nice color match to the original
