Still a great mold
This 500 grain beauty from Lyman has stood the test of time and is still a great heavy bullet for the 45-70 with black powder. I've used aluminum molds for a lot of pistol caliber bullets and they're just fine, but for something like this in my Sharps, you've just gotta go with the Lyman steel mold. Worth the investment.

the classic .45-70 bullet
this is the go-to classic .45-70 lead bullet that replicates the original springfield trap door rifle (not carbine) bullet. probably the most popular and well used lyman bullet mould for both long range target and hunting. if you own a .45-70 and you're casting your lead, you WILL need this bullet mould!
