Doesn’t specify that it requires a round handguard cap, so if you have a triangular one like I did, then you’ll have to pay a gunsmith to swap them out to use this handguard. Magpul website says it’s only for the round cap, so this review is more for OP leaving necessary information out, than for the product. Outstanding handguard, much more slim and streamlined than the original MOE handguards, MLOK slots on the sides and bottom offer a lot of options, and it manages the heat well during long range sessions. Highly recommend!

I replaced a quad rail on my M&P 308. Use a solid handguns removal tool and br careful with the gas block. All is good.

Magpul has updated their description to include that this handguard does NOT fit triangular front A2 sight assemblies. Only the round ones. It is clear on their website but I can’t find that information on the Optics Planet website. All that to say, it doesn’t fit my BCM upper. So I’m going to try to return it.

Having never seen any of these MOE SL handguards in person, and in use, I took the leap and bought a set. (1) Cannot use these with a military sling mount on an Front Sight Base. (2) If you want to use the bayonet lug,,,forget that, you cant with the SL handguard. (3) Triangular handguard caps and these handguards are not fit friendly

Follow installation instructions. The installation will be super easy. This will fit a M&P-10 with factory gas block. It is a much more clean appearance than factory. This gives you more options to install accessories for low profile look.

T purchased the mid length version and mounted it on to a 16” pencil profile barrel. Looks great with an A2 front sight. It’s very lightweight but still is noticeably durable. Can’t go wrong with magpul! Can’t beat the price either…

I have several of these magpul handguards in different colors for several of my builds. They have an aluminum heat shield inside. They fit well and are easy to install as long as you pick the right length according to your gas system and purchase the delta ring and hand guard cap for those who are unfamiliar with this setup. The m-lok holes are great for your accessories but beware when you tighten them down you will flair the plastic opening slightly which makes it a little harder to remove the m-lok accessory but not a big deal. Gives your rifle a modern look.

To all of those shooters out there whishing to install a magpul SL handguard on their mid-length rifle, it can be done! As always, the manufacturers dissuade anyone from modifying their products but this application provides for two options. One must either purchase a round cap for their mid-length rifle and have the skills and punch set to remove the A2 gas block and front sight. Then remove the triangle cap and reinstall a new round cap followed by gas block and sight. All of the pinning must be basically perfect and straight. This is not complicated for the shooter that is handy with tools and used to performing more than the standard field strip. Perhaps if one is regularly building AR and AK rifles, this will be easy. However, I took a different approach even though I am used to taking a vile and/or Dremel tool to basically any gun if it will make it better or teach me something. I took my Bushmaster Mid-length rifle (my favorite) which was factory equipped with a Magpul MOE Mid-length handguard. This rifle is excellent and eats whatever ammo you chamber. However, it lacked front handguard real-estate in my opinion. I wanted to change it for years and almost did in 2016 when many blogs and discussions claimed that the triangle cap was incompatible with mid-length rifles.
