MAK Optics Makpromont Rifle Scope Mount for Pic w/ QD-lever

Have been a loyal customer of MAK for many years: the fit and finish of their mounts is just fantastic. MAK's precision and material quality now makes the pic rail the weakest link in the chain. When always using exactly the same picatinny position, there is no zero shift noticeable. The Germans are just perfectionists.
Pros:
Zero shift repeatability
Cons:
Not cheap
Best Used for:
... putting holes in holes (almost :-)
Would recommend: Yes

This wasn't cheap, but seems to make the difference at the range. Got the high-mag 30mil Zeiss scope to the tight groups that I was used to in the late 1990s :-) With this extremely well built MAK mount, I finally fixed the weakest link in my set-up. The best ammo, best rifle and ammo is nothing without such a mount that holds zero under hot loads. Lots of money spent on this mount - while money saved: on Hornady ammo. Seriously - the built quality, fit and finish is worth the price.
Pros:
Absolute high-end piece from Germany
Cons:
German price tag for German quality
Best Used for:
Long range, tactical
Would recommend: Yes

Got this mounted on the 50BMG and even with a couple of trouble shooting issues in the first 10 shots had shots 6,7 and 8 touching each other at 100 yards. A couple things about the mount, The screws were super tight in the threads while not even bottomed out. This may be a good thing but it seemed strange to me. (felt a little chineezee) I would prefer the Vibra-tite do that job. You also need to be careful when adjusting the QD levers as the nuts have a tendancy not to seat properly in the mount itself causing them to loosen when firing the rifle, my old eyes did not pick up on that problem, it was one of the troubleshooting issues. The one click differance in adjusting these QD screws is pretty critical as the tolerances on the rail are tight. One click is the range between to loose and to tight. All in all knowing what I know I would not hesitate to put a beefy mount like this on my A-10 when I get it.
Pros:
Heavy Duty
Six cap screws opposed to the usual four
Intigrated Leveling bubble
Cons:
Screws seemed too tight
Best Used for:
Heavy Target Interdiction
Would recommend: Yes
