I've used 1pt., 2pt. and (I'm embarrassed to admit) even one 3pt. sling.
(My 2 cents for what it's worth, which is probably 2cents): After being a lifelong hunter, a Marine for 6 years and a retired LEO; please, if you get anything else from what I'm writing here; .....in my humble opinion, there is NEVER, NEVER, NEVER a reason for a 3pt. sling. Now, feel free to enlighten me as to why I'm wrong)�
Where was I....oh yeah, I like 1pt. slings PERIOD except when you have to move fast and you have something to hold, other than your rifle, because if you're not holding your rifle, it will end up whacking you somewhere you would rather it didn't (feel free to use your imagination)!
Then one day recently I saw a video describing the McLean Corp DRS Dynamic Retention Sling. This sling, which was apparently designed and developed by a Navy Seal is absolutely INGENIOUS! After watching a demonstration of this sling I knew I had to get one and, as they say, the rest is history!
It is a 1pt. sling that can be quickly (and I do mean very very quickly) converted into a 2pt. sling. Once you receive yours, should you purchase one, you set up yours with two sling attachments (one where you would normally put one for a single sling attachment and a second one closer to the end of the hand guard. I use M-Lock QD push button quick connect/disconnect Sling Swivel Loops.
