Most Helpful Positive Review .223 replacement mag
Looking for a low cost magazine for a Remington 700 .223 ACIS DBM as the metal mags are really expensive. Hesitant about fit but this fit like a glove and the price was GREAT. Quality of mags are great as well.

Polymer mags are action specific.

by rw, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on May 11, 2024
Quality mag for a fair price but it will not function with the Ruger American in 223/556. My specific rifle is the ranch rifle that does not take AR mags, so I hoped the non modified round bolt would cycle. It however does not. I had to go with the steel 223 magazines which function flawlessly. MDT customer service was extremely helpful and I’d recommend calling them any time to ask questions about compatibility when buying a chassis. I’d still recommend the polymer magazines if your specific action and chassis combo works together.
Pros:
  • Affordable, well built
Cons:
  • action specific

chassis mag

by Matt, Verified Owner from OK, United States Written on January 3, 2024
Picked this up to go with my Trybe Defense chassis for the Ruger 5.56. Fits and cycles just fine. Look forward to trying my best to wear them out chasing coyotes, pigs, deer or what ever happens to cross paths with me a bit sideways.

I needed these for TRYBE Defense R.O.C.S. Rapid Offense Chassis System, Ruger American Rifle Short

by Rob, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on March 23, 2023
These work fine for what I needed.
TRYBE Defense R.O.C.S. Rapid Offense Chassis System, Ruger American Rifle Short Action, Black, TRBCHASRUGSA-BK

Worked for the 300 BO and the 5.56 versions.
I wish the ROCS would take standard mags but oh well... I have 100 of the other and now 4 of these...
It was tough to find the right ones because I was not up on the lingo...

Fits MPA chassis

by Jay, from OH, United States Written on July 15, 2022
I’ve read about “tuning your mags” appropriately so there is less friction when inserting or releasing. Given these mags are a polymer going into a metal construct, they could use some high grit sand and a dab of oil
Pros:
  • reliable feeding
Cons:
  • Needs some sanding

Great value

by PM, Verified Owner from ME, United States Written on October 17, 2021
The .223's are easy to load, fit securely and release easily. Tey feel plenty solid for the range so you can't ask for any more at this price. I've had 77gr in them with no issues so I doubt they can't handle any length round.

Tough to find and not a lot of choices

by paintsthehouse, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on June 8, 2021
I have a short action .223 Remington 700 mounted to a Magpul Hunter stock with the Magpul magwell kit installed. Currently, not even Magpul sells an AICS external box magazine in a .223/5.56 caliber (although they are supposed to be available summer 2021 sometime), so I'm not sure what other options are out there? Although these MDTs are a tad snug, they work well. No feed or jamming issues. You just have to make sure you give it a good pop on the bottom with the heel of your hand to make sure they are fully inserted. They also don't just drop out when you push the mag release button; you have to wiggle them out just a little. Some break-in may help, or perhaps a little smoothing and polishing. Overall, I'm happy with them.
Pros:
  • works
  • only real option
Cons:
  • fit is a little tight
Best Used for:
  • recreational shooting

Trial and Error???

by Stacey Blankenship, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on April 29, 2021
I ordrered a couple of these when on sale to see how they would perform in my Remington M700 SA .223 installed in AICS Stage II setup. Intial inspection of products upon receipt were ok, a bit rough on edges and feel of exterior. Unloaded, bolt open mag installation was ok, but on both issues not locking into place unless forced from bottom. Loading rounds into mag was ok but not a simple smooth operation as with the AICS .223 mags for sure or some others I have checked out but far from the worst. So far I have to force them into lockup for loading with action open and closed, either 2, 5 or more rounds doesn't seem to change this issue. Loading sequence has been moderately challenging to finicky troublesome as well. One works a little better than the other with 5 or less rounds for sure but less than desirable for soft points, long loads and hand loads for precision shooters. Overall I would not recommend the purchase of these no reason to fuss and fight with a magazine which is completely available for others that is definitely a better option for just a few more dollars. Just my inputs best of luck.
Pros:
  • ? not sure what to list here
Cons:
  • rough fit, don't lock up in mag well and load sequence is rough, troublesome and difficult
Best Used for:
  • not recommend
