Was a Christmas present. Had been pre-opened. Wife was very disappointed that it was not new. It cost $85.00 to insure and return. Be sure you know what you are getting. Pros: Star, Nebulae, Planet Location Cons: Involved alignment process

Good for Beginners

For setup, it would be nice to have a flat spot on the mount on which to put a level. Navigation of the menu takes some getting used to. Red dot sight brightness is fixed and makes it difficult to use with dim stars.
Pros: cost, computer controls
Cons: cumbersome setup

Meade technology is superb! We have a Meade Refractor telescope. Used re-packaged product! Was a Christmas Present for my wife. Returned to Optics Planet for refund minus shipping and product insurance. Great experiences with Meade products; bad experience with Optics Planet!
