MARPAT's Review of Meprolight TRU-DOT Smith&Wesson Fixed Night Sights

I bought item ML2771G for my N frame Smith & Wesson 629. As others have stated this install is for the experienced. First you have to use a #54 drill bit if you want to re-use the factory pin. My experience with that tiny bit wasnt a good one so i decided on using a 1/16 drillbit in hopes i can find a 1/16 pin.

The front sight doesnt have the same pattern below as factory sights so you will have to carefully drill another hole behind the factory one and slightly higher for the pin to catch otherwise you are out of luck.

Next the rear sight. The spanner wrench i had didnt fit the captured bolt so i made my own spanner using a 3/16 slotted screw driver that i grinded down the middle with a dremel. Next your will notice the slotted screw is now too big to fit inside the rear sight housing so i used a 15/64 drill bit and expanded the hole just deep enough so the slotted screw would fit inside.

The end result is a nice looking tritium sight thats plenty bright at night.

Overall there limited options for revolvers so yes I would recommend these as they are superior to factory original but if youre installing these yourself thread carefully and take your time. Otherwise i could see a higher premium if you were to get these done by a gun smith
