I bought this for my ruger 38sp LCR. You can barely see the green dot in total darkness and you can’t see it at all in any kind of light. It is supposed to have a white ring around the green dot but I don’t see it. I’m going to buy the xs sight from Ruger but if I don’t I’ll probably just put the white ramp back on it. I did a lot of research on this sight and I’m very disappointed. Even the roll pin they send with the sight is not the correct length.

At first I was worried that I would receive the wrong sight, because there is another site for a Ruger pistol that is identical except for thickness. I received the correct sight, and proceeded to prepare my slide for its installation. Knock out the two pins with a 16th inch punch that hold the old sight in. I chose to use two brand new pins. This next comment of mine may sound ridiculous, but it works fantastic! You take the new site, and superglue it in place so that it cannot move. Then you take 1/ 16th inch drillbit and place it in a pin vice, And start the drilling through the new site. As you may have figured out by now the new site comes un-drilled. Once you have started a nice divot in the new site for both holes, then you do the same thing on the other side for both holes. You now have two nice divots on each side of the site. You then place the drill bit in a hand drill, preferably variable speed, and proceed to drill a couple seconds in each hole on one side then do the other side the same way, and after a few seconds the holes will meet and be perfectly aligned with each other. Then you just knock in the new pins with your 16th inch punch and you're done! Very simple, but you need to be patient and not succumb to the temptation of just drilling it straight through without making those divots first.

This sight is supposed to fit the Ruger GP 100 but it does not. When lined up next to the standard Ruger sight it is almost an 1/8 in bigger. No matter how hard you try it simply will not fit. I will be reaching out to OP for a refund. Someone should have tested this before selling it.

I ordered this towards the beginning of May, 2020. This was the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic and the site mentioned they were struggling with reduced personnel and being swamped with orders. So I am not going to knock off any stars for things outside their control. That being said, I got my orders both at the last week of May. The sights I got look awesome and I can't wait to get to the gunsmith to have them put on. I am happy with my order and plan to keep opticsplanet in my to go list.
Pros:
- Shipping time was reasonable due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Cons:
- Processing seemed to take forever, but Covid-19 pandemic was happening.

For my GP-100, filing-to fit was required, so poor design from the start. Performance in full darkness is good but far from "bright." In full daylight, this front sight appears only as a black sight since there is no usable white ring around the tritium core. In lower-light conditions, such as sunset, the sight is nearly invisible due to insufficient brightness.
Cons:
- hand-fit required, poor day vis

This rear sight was very easy to put on with the vism sight pusher. The night sight itself was very bright. Excellent sight for the price. Put it on my Ruger P95 great way to revive an old work horse.

I bought this to replace a worn sight that the black had worn off. The price point was close enough to the Ruger red ramp replacement so I thought I would give it a try.
I have the HiViz Litewave Sight on the other pistol so I thought I would go with a night sight on this one.
I tried this sight on both of the GP 100s that I own. No go. I was going to send it back for a replacement until I read the reviews. Seems like everyone here had to file it to fit. So here I am covering the bright areas I had to file with a sharpie.
Unless you really need a night sight I would go with the HiViz Litewave Sight instead. Better fit without modification and better in daylight
Pros:
- Night sight (if you need it)
Cons:
- poor fit; requires modification to to fit.

Not sure if it's the front sight or the extremely shallow dovetail cut on the SR9c, but pushing the sight from right to left the sight popped out about half way into the dovetail channel, tried 3 more times and now is finger pressure adjustable. Tried red thread locker without success and as drastic as it may sound, JB weld, which lasted 18 rounds before departure. Really do like the sight picture in low light and would like the sight to work but scratching my head on this one.

a bit of metal filing to make fit but afterwards_It's AweSoMe.
If I had to do this purchase all over again, I would have certainly purchased the rear sight at the same time.
As soon as I got this front sight installed, I ordered the rear sight and shipping extremely slow on that one.
This front sight has a bit of extra metal at the base. I saw many reviews where customers had to do some metal filing to get a custom tight fit to their revolver, I did too!
Some people may be fortunate enough to receive a sight that simply drops in, no tooling/ fitting necessary.
Tools/ Materials I needed were: Dremel tool (a good hand file will do the job but slower), also 320 to 400 grit grit sand paper to buff up the area where metal was gently removed, Rubbing Alcohol to clean off the bare metal then a bit of Birchwood-Casey PermaBlue (applied with an ear swab) to get that nice dark blued black finish to the bare metal and lastly a very light coat of oil and wiped off excess.
Bottom Line: I recommend Meprolight. Used them previously. Meprolight works very well. Most are easy install without tooling to fit. This one is hit or miss but expect to spend 30 minutes or less and gently file enough metal to get it to fit perfect. Good Luck and you will LOVE the sights once installed. Awesome for use on bedside weapons and carry too.
Pros:
- fits great,works great,bright,good contrast
Cons:
- some metal removal necessary to fit perfect, requires common hand file -oil and gun blue to do the job right
Best Used for:
- low light or no light environment, bedside and carry.

Perfect fit for my Ruger P97. Replaced the broken factory sights. A sight pusher tool was necessary when removing the old and installing the new. Glows nicely in the dark. Works with existing factory front sight.
