LOVE THESE SIGHTS!
Over all, very excellent set of sights for the AK. Certainly anything you throw on it will be an improvement over the standard comm bloc sights. I've had these sights for just over a month or 2 now, so I waited a while to write this review in case something worth mentioning did happen. Like I said i...

Nice (looking), but totally useless...
I bought this set before thoroughly reviewing other users comments. After purchase (but before receipt of the item) I read that about half the users were satisfied to very pleased; the other half found out as I did the front post was worthless. I did verify this set was designed for use with my styl...

It works as advertised....but.
Wholeheartedly endorse this product. I mounted it on a PSAK-47 (103 Clone). The dots are bright, installing the rear sight I used a wooden dowel and a rubber mallet. Just google "AKM rear sight removal". The reason I did not give it 5 stars is a ding against Meprolight NOT Opticsplanet! The meprolight install video DOES NOT explain or.show how to install front sight, it omits the small detail that you have to compress the gap in the front sight screw (pliers wrapped in electrical tape) to get front sight post. The AKM front sight tool will NOT fit, I had to use a hemostat to screw it in. Other than that it.works great!
Pros:
- Bright in low light.
- Rear sight IS adjustable
- Name brand I trust!
Cons:
- Instructions need clarification
- Your going to need needle nose pliars
Best Used for:
- Low light shooting
- Dialing in akm sights/rear sight is now adjustable

Longer than the stock sight
I had a set of Meprolight front and rear 1000m sights for my AK74 which fit like a charm but I had to remove the rear sight when I replaced the dust cover with a Texas Weapon Systems hinged railed cover. For my Palmetto State AK103 clone, I ordered the 800m sights because the PSAK had 800m sights and they were considerably shorter than the 1000m rear I had, so I didn't think they'd fit. Now, I have a different model railed dust cover on this AK, which doesn't use a hinge bolted into the rear sight bracket but an adjustable tension plate to lock into the recoil spring, and a heavy-duty spring-loaded wedge to keep the front equally tight to the receiver. Think FAB defense but a different manufacturer.
The Meprolight 800m rear is still considerably longer than the stock sight, so the new dust cover (and possibly the old, I didn't check. I wouldn't think so, because a stock AK cover is a bit smaller) prevents the elevation from being set correctly. If I wasn't using an optic as the primary method of aiming the rifle, it would be a considerably bigger problem. As it is, I've got essentially a fixed-distance set of BUIS. Not the biggest problem, but a little disappointing.
On the plus side, the sights themselves are just as fantastic as my other set. Tritium is easy to spot from behind the rifle, but doesn't glow like rave. The elevation adjustment drum moves smoothly, and the front sight CAN be adjusted by an AK front sight tool. I've seen some aftermarket front sides that were ...

AK-47 Sights
These are great sights. They are a game changer in low light conditions. It’s much easier to get your sights on target during the day as well. If you have an AK-47 you won’t be disappointed with these sights.

Perfect fit on Z. M70.
Very bright and crisp lamps for your AK pattern rifle. Install of front post is easy enough with a proper ak sight tool. Rear sight can be a total B, so watch a video or two before you remove it. This is not the fault of the sights, it's the nature of how the rear sight is captured in the trunion. Be sure you buy a ak sight tool with purchase of these sights! You will not regret it. Makes a huge difference in low to no light, but also in normal lighting due to the clean lines and dots they provide.

Poor fit no support
So when I first decided to try these sights I wasn’t sure which sights I needed for a Romanian SAR1 so I contacted Meprolight tech to be sure I got the correct sight. Well when they showed up I did the rear sight first. It fit, not perfect but acceptable. Then the front sight post, I removed the old post and put the new one in. It was lose, and I mean LOSE! I checked it with a mic thinking I needed to maybe spread the cut in the post a little but the problem was bigger than that, the shaft diameter was smaller then the factory post there’s no way to spread it enough to keep it from wobbling. So I contacted tech at Meprolight again and they ask for a copy of the invoice from optics planet which I sent immediately. Well, that’s the last I’ve heard from them they simply stopped responding. Now maybe I could glob some lock tight in there but that’s not to me a practical solution for a sight that’s mounted to a barrel that gets extremely hot. It’s a poor quality part with poorer support. Pay a little more for something this important
Pros:
- Cheap
Cons:
- Lives up to being cheap
Best Used for:
- Wall hanger

Rear sight is perfect. Front sight fits too loosely. Had to buy a different front sight. Would not recommend this package.

AK Sights for People Losing Theirs
My Century Arms AK-47 came with black sights. I'm 59 years old and had trouble seeing them even in daylight. I put these sights on it and I'm on target again. Good sights, went on without a hitch. Recommend em!
Best Used for:
- Old eyes

Fits a polish akms
Installs easily, front sight spins freely more or less, and did not fit my sight tool, may need to be lock-tighted in place, but it might just be my gun and tool. would look better on a gun with rails/polymer furniture but it's not a deal breaker for me with wood. Sights have a good glow in the dark, and front sight has more room to move visually in the rear sight then the original.
Pros:
- Good glow, easy installation
Cons:
- Front sight is a bit loose
Would recommend: Yes
Ok for night fire?
This sight might be OK for low light or no light, but are not visible during daylight. Also the 6mmx7.5mm front post fits loose in the front sight block.
Pros:
- Easy to install
Cons:
- not bright during daylight.
Best Used for:
- People with good eyesight
Would recommend: No
Very dim, worst of the tritium sights I have had
This is a rifle sight, so the front sight is about two feet from your eyes and you would expect it to have sufficient glow to find it. Well, compared to sights I have for Glock which are on a 4" barrel, it's like an LED flashlight next to a dim candle. Almost impossible to see. The rear sights are slightly brighter (shouldn't it be the other way around?). Glock sights have a bright white rim outside of the tritium bulb that is very bright and stands out in daylight. The Meprolight bulb has a metal rim, which is invisible in daylight.
Very disappointed, a total waste of money.
