Excellent fit and finish, with a bonus!

by ApparentlyItsJack, Verified Owner from AR, United States Written on February 6, 2026
I am really glad that I waited to buy the Mesa Tactical LEO Gen II (Mossberg), because the Gen II has a cut-out for the slide / action bar release. One of the big arguments against pistol grip stock for the Mossberg 500 series has always been that the grip impeded usage of the action bar lock release.
Well, this just solved that problem completely.
Tilt the shotgun slightly to *easily* and positively engage that release!
Fit and finish on the LEO unit is excellent, and I had zero problems fitting it (100% drop-in) on a 590a1.
I have went through several stock variations on this Mossberg, including the highly regarded SGA, and this is by far my favorite set-up.
It's superb for those with shorter arms and fingers!

Very good, could be better.

by Hope it Helps, Verified Owner from CT, United States Written on February 1, 2026
This does that it's supposed to. It allows for a carbine style buffer and standard ar grip to be attached to the back of your mossberg. Lockup is good. Instructions could be a bit more helpful. I didn't realize this is Only for carbine stocks, as there is no provision for a stock that requires an indexing dimple. It says this in the manual but not in any ad. But I'm sure that's what most people want. I am using an a1 stock, and was able to get it to work with a modified I cut with a Dremel. Note that this mounts your stock at the same height as your original stock, which may be low for some optics. I believe they also sell one that mounts it higher. Or, like me, you can just get a cheek riser.

WHY IS THE GRIP ANGLE DIFFERENT?

by JJ, Verified Owner from UT, United States Written on July 3, 2025
The grip angle is at 10 degrees forward. So if you put a zero angle grip on it, the grip points 10 degree forward. If you want you grip straight at a 90 degree angle from the reciever you are going to have a hard time finding the right grip. Which makes colour matching impossible. You can't just order the grip you want and have it fit the way you want. What's the point in even making it modular? MASSIVE LET DOWN. I've spent a lot of time and money trying to get this ready for the 4th of July. Now I guess im going to show up and show everyone that mesa tactical doesn't like to play with anyone else. You have to buy their grip to have a "1911 style angle" that's you're only option, or you can play a guessing game through the mail to find the right one and hope its the same color at the rest of the furniture you spent a fortune on to get it right. Also the fitment was off so i had to take a file to the mounting face so it didn't rock back and forth on the reciever. Thanks guy. You made this waaaaay harder than it has to be for no reason.
Pros:
  • None, its takes a proprietary grip.
Cons:
  • It takes a proprietary grip.

Mesa Tactical LEO ii Stock Adapter

by Aaron C, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on October 31, 2024
I really like this product, it is a very strong aluminum core with plastic overmould. It is strong, comes with the plate that fits between the item and the non included castle nut. The forward angle turns any ar style grip into an almost 90° that feels perfect with the shotgun. My only complaint is that with a full cheek weld your face does not get low enough to really be level with the bead/barrel. It's extremely close and some shooting will fix this training issue. If you plan on using red dot/rifle sights/ghost ring sites this is perfect for you.

(Mossberg 500 troubleshoot) feed issue resolved.

by Donny JIC, Verified Owner from OK, United States Written on August 19, 2024
This is a great product and built like a tank. Only issue I experienced is if you forget to install the crush washer with the bolt that mounts it to the to the receiver, it will thread to deep and will not allow full cocking/charge. This prevents feed spring arm to fully depress.
