Purchased to mount an Aimpoint on my Bulgarian 107fr since they Arsenal mounts are vaporware. Couldn’t be happier. Locks up tight to receiver, position and height is perfect. IMO, the rear side mount is the only way to go for mounting an optic on a Kalashnikov.

This is a duty grade mount and a must have for your duty grade optic. This is far superior to flat top, picatiney side mounts that you see in the market. It brings the optic as near to the bore as is possible, allowing me to operate using the same reliable cheek weld/sight picture as with my irons on the AKM. This is the other benefit, if my aimpoint pro goes down, I can still effectively use my irons without removing the optic. This is a great purchase if you take your fighting rifle seriously. Buy once, cry once.

This mount is a 4.5 of 5. Solid mount, good locking mechanism. Two things bug me about the mount: 1) finish is imperfect and scuffed on the corners. 2) It site a bit low, if it was 3-5mm taller then it would have an adequate gap between optic and rifle. My vortex strikefire slightly touches rifle with factory lens caps on. Still functions fine, but spacing is very tight.
That said there aren't much choices out there and this is still the best available option.
Pros:
- Quality
- lever
- aesthetic and Function

I really wish that I could give this 4.5 stars. As it is designed, it works great. It is solid, holds zero, and you can still see your iron sights. I have used the Ultimak rails for years, and this system is better for a red dot sight. It is more natural. However, there are some drawbacks that keep this from being a perfect 5. Primarily, you cannot disassemble or reassemble the rifle with the sight on. So, when you go zero, then clean the rifle, you have to remove the mount. It removes and reinstalls easily, but I would prefer being able to clean the rifle without removing it. Also, if you have a side folding stock, you cannot fold the stock with the mount on the rifle. However, neither of these issues are really the fault of the mount. The ak was not designed to have an optic, so this product is an awesome innovation that brings the ak into the 21st century.

Another great product from Midwest Industries. I have a Primary Arms 30mm Red Dot installed which is a great combination. This mount and optic setup give a nice lower 1/3rd co-witness between the red dot and AK iron sites.

I'm really glad MI offers this alternative to the RS regulate system, which is 2x more expensive. It pairs perfectly with the Aimpoint ACO (got is for $310 on ebay) on my DDI AK47. It holds zero so far after multiple removals, test drops and 200 hundred rounds. No complaints. Only issue is that there is no clearance to fit the Aimpoint bikini covers without trimming. I'm sure it's fine with flip caps. Thanks Midwest Industries!
Pros:
- Affordable
- Holds zero
- Sturdy, well built
