Most Helpful Positive Review Recoil pad jig value.
This is a decent little jig. I had been borrowing a friends jig (big name, high dollar) and had about decided to buy my own when I saw these for about half the price. I decided to gamble and try one out. They are great! Better and easier to use than the "big name" jig and a real bargain at the price. If you install more than one or two recoil pads a year, you really owe it to yourself to get one of these! Pros: works well, lots of adjustment, reasonable price Cons: can't really think of any right now!

Must have tool

by Steve Dean, from TN, United States Written on December 20, 2021
This tool gives the average guy the best chance at properly fitting a recoil pad to the butt stock. Professionals no doubt can do it just by hand but for the occasional user this tool can save a lot of ruined pads.
Pros:
  • Well Made And Designed
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Shaping recoil pad to fit butt stock
Would recommend: Yes

Works great!

by Larry Potterfield wanna be, from MO, United States Written on June 10, 2017
This product is just the tool you need for getting the correct angle for the toe when fitting a grind to fit recoil pad. You will need a 8 inch belt sander as well. Once you have this tool you can use it over and over again. I used it to fit a nice pachmyr recoil pad to an old Remington 870 wingmaster that had a factory recoil pad that was as hard as an old tire.
Pros:
  • Price
  • Ease of use
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Fitting toe angle

Wheeler Recoil Pad Installation Fixture

While I suppose it is possible to do a recoil pad without it, the jig makes it so much easier. Although I have never done a recoil pad without the jig, I don't suppose I ever will. If all you use it for is to get the heal and toe angle correct, it pays for itself.

Essential to install recoil pads

by bw, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on November 16, 2015
Have installed several recoil pads that required grinding fits. Probably the only jig that makes them grind out perfectly. I recommend using a table disc sanders along with a fine grit sandpaper 120 or finer. Make sure your score lines are visible to grind to.
Pros:
  • easy to use.
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • custom fit grindable recoil pad

Easy to use

by Canadian Pointer, from ON, Canada Written on August 29, 2014
All round good product, very easy to use. Takes the guess work out of contouring the heal & toe and saves the fingers from doing free hand sanding.
My only fault with the product is the wrong lock nut was shipped in the package (course thread, fine thread required). Really speeds up the job & has the potential to makes an amateur look like a pro if you follow the instructions. Unfortunately import duties/shipping almost double the price by the time it gets to Canada.
Definitely going to recommend this product.
Pros:
  • well built
  • easy to use
Cons:
  • wrong part supplied (nut thread)
Best Used for:
  • amature or pro
Would recommend: Yes

Miles Gilbert Recoil Pad Installation Fixture

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on February 5, 2009
This is a must-have item for anyone who does stock work. It cut my install time for recoil pads in half. The only real problem I have with it is the ease of over-compressing the pad you're grinding, thus causing a concave in the pad when finished. A little care and caution goes a long way here.
Pros: Easy to use, easy to set angle of grind
Cons: If you're not careful, you can overcompress the pad you're grinding on, and make it concave.
