I bought this as survival food to go into long-term storage. When things get tough, small comforts like decent-tasting food can be mood boosters. Although it isn’t luxurious, I’m impressed by the quality and flavor. Yes, the chicken has a texture that’s more like bread, but this is to be expected from freeze-dried meat; it’s not awful. Other reviewers have complained about the bland flavor, but don’t let them fool you. This is a great-tasting meal that will satisfy many on its own, which is kind of the point of creating food for the masses. Seasonings can always be added but not removed, and the flavor profile of this meal, if not all Mountain House meals, is where you want to start before adding anything more. I didn’t find this to be too salty whatsoever, but if that is a concern, then check out the Pasta Primavera. Oh, and I used about 1/4 cup less water than listed on the package to avoid the common complaints about soupiness. I ended up with a saucey consistency rather than soup.
