Most Helpful Positive Review Better than what you'd think for the price
So, I just received the scope, mounted it and went shooting and have to say, I am pleased with the quality. It's not an ACOG, but I didn't expect it to be for the price. I'm pretty hard on my scopes, and after having spent the $1K and sending the ACOG to its grave, I decided to stick with the more...

Most Helpful Negative Review Neat toy.
When I first opened the box from opticsplanet, I was pleasantly surprised. Nice packaging, the scope seemed solid, even came with batteries! The ARMS-style mount seemed a little iffy, so I got out the blue loctite and mounted it up properly to my RRA M4gery. Had it zeroed in no time using my cus...

NcStar 4x42mm Rubber Armor P4 Sniper Scope

by PYang004, from CA, United States Written on March 5, 2015
As expected from a $110 scope the finish and quality is not the best, but it get by just fine. By this I mean the rubber coating is a sleeve type cover. So the fitting is not entirely tight around all areas. There are areas that you can feel the rubber loose against the metal body. One spot that I noticed was the top adjusting knob. The cap to adjust the height of the reticle when tighten all the way down will push against and pinch the rubber coating there. You can tighten it all the way, just tight enough against the rubber.

The quick release mount works very well. Read the instruction manual to see how to adjust the quick release mount and it fits perfectly well.

The illuminate scope is blue and has 5 brightness settings. The same adjustment knob will also set the laser to on as well. The laser can be set to on with the reticle off. Or the laser on with the reticle on one setting.

All the know feel well built and have a firm click when applicable. The knobs that don't click sit firming on their settings.

The eye end piece. That's the smaller side on the stock end. Is the only gripe I have. It is a focal piece that can adjust for near/far sighted people. Clockwise all the way in is for nearsighted people. Counter clockwise all the was out is set for farsighted people. That's works great, but the piece does not sit firmly on it's setting. It can easily be moved out of adjustment. And when you adjust the focal piece it turns the scope cover around into a weird position.

Had mine over 3 years now.

by Sparky, from CA, United States Written on February 9, 2015
Purchased from Optics Planet several years ago and eventually mounted mine on an Adams Arms piston 5.56, very happy with it overall. It has held together, clear, bright, accurate and holds zero and keeps chugging along. Nice scope for the price. Nice looking as well.
When I first purchased it I noticed it was a bit finicky about the picatinney it was mounted on. Initially I was thinking of using it on a Chiappas made .22 upper but it would not tighten down and stay in place, seemed to wander after a few dozen shots. It stabilized on the Adams Arms and has been there ever since. Smallest of cant in the scope was detected which is a result in the way the mount clamps the pic rail, that could also be why it is finicky with the pics, a design flaw. Shimmed it to correct. Ultimately a minor annoyance on a lever mounted scope.
Biggest negative is the flimsy flip-up caps. The rear one broke off on the first outing with it. A little epoxy remedied that (actually a bit stronger now) but I often remove it when out in the field, especially if letting another shooter use it.
I would not hesitate to purchase another but I hope they would have corrected the minor deficiencies since my original purchase years ago. I would easily give it a 5 star if that were so.
Pros:
  • value priced
Cons:
  • flimsy scope caps
  • finicky mounting
Best Used for:
  • casual shooting
  • small game and pest hunting

Great scope

by michael, from TN, United States Written on July 31, 2014
I think NcStar scopes are a great buy. Their pricing and quality keep me loyal.
There are more expensive ones on the market and cheaper ones too
but their quality is great. I was looking for a good scope at a great price and
This fit the bill. Optics planet has great deals too.

Not bad

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on June 16, 2012
Mounted on a m4 carbine. It's an ok scope for the range. I wouldn't expect it to last in harsh conditions. The illuminated part lights up the whole inside of the scope when it decides to work. wiggling the knob makes the light flicker on and off. It sits low and I had to replace my rear sight with a shorter one. actual eye relief is questionable, I end up closer than it claims. otherwise it looks cool. reminds me that "You get what you pay for".
Pros: easily attaches, compact, looks good, easily attaches
Cons: cheaply made

Not for millitary

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on June 8, 2012
If your a civilain this might be good for you, but for millitary, espically infantry, not at all. as a infantryman we do alot of hard, ruff work but not really putting that much stress on our equipment at the same time. But within the first week using this scope things started to fall apart on it. First the battery cap started to become loose then fell off competely. My zero on my scope would be off because of all the bumping and moving around, it needs some sort of windage locking mechanism then a few months down the road the windage fell off competely with one hard bump. the only sight cover still on is the front one. This is not made for ruff/combat environments it will fall apart on you. IT COULD BE A REALLY NICE SCOPE TOO. Alot of cool features.
Pros: nice laser on the side easy way to mark targets or close quaters.
Cons: everything falls of. not for combat use at all.

The reticle is crooked. The blue illumination is nearly invisible in any daylight at all. The laser adjustment doesn't work. The ilumination and laser flickers and sometimes doesn't come on at all. The rear flip up lense cover broke.
Pros: Great value.
Cons: The reticle is crooked. The blue illumination is nearly invisible in any daylight at all. The laser adjustment doesn't work. The ilumination and laser flickers and sometimes doesn't come on at all. The rear flip up lense cover broke.

Cannot get 12 oclock on Reticle with updated mount

by Legacy Reviewer, from NY, United States Written on April 11, 2012
I cannot seem to get 12 oclock on my reticle even with updated quick release mount on this sope. It is mounted on flat-top ar15 hbar2 competition match target. I wonder if anyone has had a similar problem. My sense its a problem inside the scope.
