Nc Star 4x-30 compact rifle scope
I have two different Nc Star compact rifle scopes mounted on two different carbine calibers. Both scopes get pounded pretty good and both scopes hold their zero. The P4 rangefinding reticle is real nice for holdovers and with a little math or a quick reference table you can use it for rangfinding.

Good Price Bad Optic
I ordered this scope for the price. It is a sturdy, nice looking scope but that is the only positive aspects of it. I put it on a .22 rifle and tried to zero it at 25 yards. It was 22 inches low. I adjusted it (one click for each 1/4 inch). After the requisite 88 clicks, it was still 18 inches low. ...

15yrs and still holding.
I purchased this scope when I was stationed in Korea, I have fired it on the M-24 M-14 M-16, and M-4 as well as my AR-10 and AR-15 This scope has not only maintained my zeros over the years but has never given me a lick of trouble. 15 yrs now and it is still one of my favorites. I have seen a lot of complaints about ring blur and adjustable focus on here, which is an issue I have not had at all but mine is 15yrs old and companies do change up suppliers over time. Overall if a fixed magnification optic is what you prefer, it has been my experience this one will do you well.
Pros:
- Size

NcStar 4x30 Compact rifle scope.
Outer edge (25%) of view blurred. View was slightly out of focus. Ocular lense will loosen and focus, but does not appear to be designed for that function. Always a hit and miss with the cheepos. Spend a few more dollars, but don't buy a BSA! returning for store credit
Pros:
- Cheepo
Cons:
- Bad glass
Best Used for:
- A paper weight

Good quality for the price!
Bought this for airsoft and I'd have to say i think it would also work great on a small caliber firearm. The optics are decent, fairly durable, and if I destroy it playing, im not going to shed a tear.
Pros:
- Price, functionality
Cons:
- It aint a Nikon
Best Used for:
- Airsoft, paintball, small caliber firearms

Terrible Glass
This is a toy, not a serious optic. I read the reviews and thought for the price why not give it a try. I needed a compact scope for an sks. One that would allow top loading via stripper clip. The scope is robust and well finished, especially for the price point. The optics are terrible. Imagine is blurry around edges and there is a distortion just above crosshairs. The crosshairs are thick enough to block the target. At 300 yards they completely cover a 4” bull ring. It does hold zero. The scope is mounted on the receiver cover which catches the brunt of recoil impulses. There was no change in zero after 30 rounds. I mounted a 1x8 AR scope that cost $30 more. I would recommend that route to this optic.
Pros:
- Well finished, robust, holds zero
Cons:
- Optics terrible, crosshairs to thick
Best Used for:
- Air Soft. Toys.

Ncstar 4x30 compact riflescope
Poor quality adjustment for windage and elevation. Returned for replacement because of malfunctioning elevation adjustment. Have not received replacement. Target acquisition would be be better with finer lines on crosshairs.

OK for the price
It holds zero and seems rugged. Guess that is enough for a scope this cheap. The eye relief is not enough for something with more recoil tgan a .223. I can't bacl the focus out enough for my eyes. Mounting is very limited, it almost has to go on a rail. Its fine for intermediate range plinking.

Excellent scope for the price.
It's nothing fancy, but what do you expect for the price? It is, however, functional and rugged. I mounted this scope on my Ruger SR-762. 600 rounds of .308 and a few bumps later, it is still on zero. It doesn't have a huge field of view, but then the weapon I mounted it on is not a close quarters weapon and does not need it. Besides, with proper technique training, target acquisition would not be a problem even in close quarters. I see no reason not to use this scope for any AR-15 or AR-10 for any contemplated use other than low-light. It isn't a Nightforce or a Trijicon or a Leupold, but, for the money, you can't beat this scope with a stick! Why spend a truck load of money on the latest belle of the ball scope when this one does its job as reliably as scopes costing in the hundreds of dollars?
Pros:
- Durable.
- affordbility
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Tactical/Military Application

Is this what you really want?
This is a lightweight well-made scope at a good price. It looks really nice on an AR but functionally-wise, I find it lacking since the field of view is nowhere near that of a regular scope. As such, it takes a great deal of time to acquire your target. After putting this on a CAR-15, I immediately replaced it with a regular (long tube) 32mm scope. Anyway, if you want to look really COOL, then buy this. Otherwise buy a conventional scope that works much better.
