Update to My Review of New Frontier C10 Upper Receiver
I want to update my review of the New Frontier Armory C10 DPMS Pattern Upper Receiver. While the anodizing was not as nice as other upper receivers, I think it was unfair to characterize it as "atrocious." That's not a fitting description because the finish was uniform and had no evidence of blotchiness, scratching, or bare spots. That would have been "atrocious."
In summary, this upper is stylistically very attractive with a geometric shape to the forward assist. It features a cut out for the bolt release and is slightly lighter than some competing uppers like the Aero Precision .308 Upper. In comparison to DPMS uppers like the Aero Precision and Stag Arms, this is a low tang or low profile DPMS upper, which I prefer.
Additionally, New Frontier Armory actually answers their phones, will spend time answering your questions, and will do what they can to help you. What's more, they are true supporters of the Second Amendment.

Nice Upper with Set Screw for FA--but Absolutely Atrocious Anodizing
The New Frontier Armory upper offers several desirable features, such as the set screw for install of the forward assist; it also features a large and nicely designed cut out for the bolt release.
The C10 also mates nicely with the New Frontier lower. The fit is tight and snug. Additionally, the tolerances with a Faxon Match Grade Barrel were very tight, but in a good way. The barrel did not slip in, but it also didn't need to be pounded into the receiver.
However, the anodizing on this upper is unacceptable and New Frontier ought to be embarrassed with such shoddy anodizing. The black is a noticeably flat sheen. When touched, it leaves an almost white, nearly powdery residue on the finish. Imagine a light chalky smear with every touch of the finger.
If you plan on cerakoting this upper, then the anodizing is a plus since it's extremely easy to remove with sand blasting, almost embarrassingly so. However, if you don't plan on having this upper receiver cerakoted, then I highly recommend passing on this upper. The finish is atrocious and, I would suspect, it would leave most end-users dissatisfied in the longterm if not immediately dissatisfied.
