Most Helpful Positive Review NightForce ATACR 4-16 x 42 F1 scope review
The ATACR 4-16x42 is my first FFP optic from NightForce. I have other SFP NightForce optics as well as several Leupold, Valdada, Vortex, and Schmidt & Bender on a wide range of calibres. I chose this unit because of its more compact nature as compared to larger objective lense models. Installed i...

Most Helpful Negative Review Worst Illuminated reticle I have ever experianced
WOW Is all I will say. I have to go into a dark bathroom to barely be able to see the illuminated reticle in either Green or Red. On its highest setting it is barely visible in pitch dark. The Green is only visible when it flashes between red and green, then it disappears again. needless to say I a...

Fantastic quality

by Rs, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on September 8, 2024
Fantastic glass quality, perfect erector ratio making the reticle usable at both far end of the mag. Range. The turrets feel great andit comes with everything you need, minus the rings, out of the box, caps, tools for the turrets, throw lever, microfiber and lots of stickers
Pros:
  • Clear glass, durable, heavy, repeatable
Cons:
  • Stiff turrets and magnification ring

Atacr is amazing, reticle is meh

by Andrew, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on July 11, 2024
As always NF delivers with the atacr. tracking and glass are on point but the MOA-xt reticle is kind of a let down. I mean, it works, but it’s not ideal.
Best Used for:
  • shooting at night

The Best you can buy

by Sheepdog, Verified Owner from MT, United States Written on July 25, 2020
This U.S. made scope matches anything I have seen from Europe or Asia, at a significant savings. Rock solid, perfect lenses, ideal reticle and a perfect illumination system for low light shooting. I mounted this on my LaRue Predator and had no issues hitting a 2/3 metal man at 740 yds in 12-15 mph full value winds. The reticle tracks perfectly and adjustments are spot on. I dialed up and down and held for wind. The recorded misses (four in 27 rounds) were when winds increased/decreased as the bullet was launched. The reticle illumination was great when the sun/shadow made the target/reticle hard to see( no white targets; mine are fully camo painted). I would have this scope on every rifle I own if I could afford the pickup-load I would need. Another is in my future. Don't hesitate, just buy it.
Pros:
  • great glass
  • great glass, perfect reticle for tactical use
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • tactical, military

Best scope I've ever owned

by Dan D, from CO, United States Written on November 12, 2019
This scope is amazing and deserves 6 stars. The eye box, clarity, magnification and adjustments are world class. No negatives to note like tunneling at certain magnification, or being better when set to minimum or maximum. The scope performs extremely consistently across its range. I own a 1 8 ATACR and wish it had the green illumination. I didn't even care about this initially but, for backgrounds like fall in Colorado and Wyoming it is just great. I must also add, I have an astigmatism and with this scope and making use of the parallax adjustment it is just awesome. I've never seen better illinumation and I can use ALL the settings. I'm blown away by this thing. For less than the 1 8 ATACR and if you need something in this magnification range it cannot be beat.
Pros:
  • Numerous. Wonderful glass, great eye box, world class feel to adjustments, and after using it, I love the green illumination option.
Cons:
  • It has none
Best Used for:
  • anything

old bowhunter and sometime rifle shooter

by old bowhunter, from MO, United States Written on September 3, 2017
great scope for long range target shooting and pdog hunting. now on a 6.5 WSM and has increased MY EFFECTIVE RANGE form 600yds out to approx. 1000yds. I am still experimenting with tracking ability and return to zero ability. The open center allows for more precise aiming and my groups appear to be getting smaller.

Amazing Scope worth more than the price of admission

by One Shot, Verified Owner from WI, United States Written on July 17, 2017
let me first say I'm not one to write reviews, I usually read every review out there, watch every youtube video and then re-think the product I'm purchasing if I cant get it in my hands.

I've been a fan of Nightforce for years after military service and realizing their value first hand. I've used Nightforce and other great scopes Like Vortex Razor HD Gen1/2, Kahles and S&B and honestly this ATACR 7-35 F1 is the best option on the market, to my eyes. The turrets click like angels built them and the level of precision and reliability the reticle delivers is outstanding. At this price point glass is very similar too other high end models but to me takes a small edge on crystal clearness even to the Schmidt and benders/Vortex. Love both those brands but this 7-35 is my new found love, if you're looking at buying it, pull the trigger and rest assured its the best scope you can buy.
Pros:
  • a gift from the heavens
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Precision shooting

Amazing scope

by John, from NC, United States Written on October 25, 2016
I bought this scope after about 6 months of reviewing and comparing. My biggest need is the ability to redial zero very quickly and easily. I got the scope mounted and sighted in at 100 yards. I was then able to dial out to 1200 yards with first or second shot hits. I then came all the way back through various distances and target sizes. All were accurate and the movement on the turrets was nice and crisp.

Incredible scope, built like a tank

by Steve B, from UT, United States Written on June 12, 2015
I just bought this scope and had it mounted on my Remington 700, 7mm-08 rifle, using the Nightforce rail and mounts. This is the second Nightforce scope I own; I also have the 2.5X10X42. The ATACR scope is truly a heavy duty scope and it is heavy and large, but the quality is incredible. Nightforce did not miss any of the details on this scope. Aside from the Zero Stop function, it also has a locking feature on the elevation turret to help prevent it from turning accidentally. The windage turret has a removable cover to prevent it from being accidentally turned.

The numbers on the elevation turret are large enough that my 62 year old eyes don't need my glasses to see them. Nightforce has also engineered two excellent scope covers that beat the heck out of your ordinary scope covers. They are incredibly rugged and well designed. I also love the illuminated reticle.

If you are looking for an outstanding quality scope, this one won't disappoint you.
Pros:
  • bright
  • Illuminated reticle
  • Excellent build quality
  • First quality scope caps
Cons:
  • Heavy
Best Used for:
  • hunting
