For the record I’m not a scope aficionado. But I would recommend this scope to anyone who wants a good scope in the $500 dollar range. The optics are very crisp. I like the adjustments for elevation and windage. This scope is easy to sight in and a pleasure to look through. I’m amazed at the ffp option. Nikon 3 monarch is a great scope you can’t go wrong in this price range.
Pros:
- great optic all around
- adjusts easily

Clear optics. Easy to operate. Stays on zero. Great for Ar platform hunting. Own three Nikon 3 scopes and will definitely continue to replace all other brands I have with Nikon. Can't beat a lifetime gaurentee. I have never had to use it Great scope for hunting or targets.
Pros:
- Good for challenged eyesight

I couldn’t be happier. Excellent glass. After sighting it in at 100 yards, I used a rangefinder to range and slope a target 217 yards away with a 14 degree uphill slope. I entered at the info needed into the Nikon phone app, cross wind and all, and I was able to center punch a 6” target on first shot.
Cons:
- Dust caps could be better
Best Used for:
- Hunting, target and backup tactical

Purchased the Nikon Monarch 3 4x16x42 SFP FFP BDC to gain a little longer range capabilities. The first focal plane provide a more stable sighting base and when combined with the SpotOn app really makes it easy to use. I have had a Monarch 3 3x12x42 SFP BDC for about eight years and have really enjoyed it. Once the BDC distances are figured out, it is simple to use. These are good scopes, allow good light transmission, provide clear viewing, and increase shooters' capabilities.
Pros:
- Size
- good light transmission
- First focal plane
- Clear viewing

Great scope but can can't tell much difference in between my Nikon monarch 4-16×42 than my Nikon buckmaster 4.5-14×40 they are great scope I just was looking for more if I had it to do all over I would buy the buckmaster and save 150 dollars all being said you can't go wrong with either

Great scope with a great lens. You cannot go wrong with this scope. I have a few other Nikon scopes and they all are great scopes. I would buy another one when and if I get another gun. You cannot go wrong with Nikon scopes.

I have several of these scopes on different rifles. They are clear and they really bring things in close.
Nikon has always built quality products and has a great warranty if needed. My scope arrived on time and in good condition.

The Optics are extremely clear, i have other Nikon scopes and have never had a problem with them, this is my first Monarch and the quality difference is very noticeable. I plan on purchasing another one for my other rifle.

I purchased this scope and a Leupold VX3 4x12x50 to compare them side by side at home in low light situations. The VX3 was good but returned the Monarch is on my rifle. Bore sighted, and sighted in 1.66" high @ 100 yards in no time. Awesome scope. If it wasn't listed as a demo I would have thought it was new. Lifetime warranty is still valid too.

Nikon 4-16 x 42 scope to top my 270 WSM. At first the scoped worked fine but the parallax adjustment would not turn and when i did finally turn it moved the point of impact by 8". I called Nikon and they stepped up right a way to solve the problem and in a short time i had a new scope at my door. Good job Nikon you are a company worth my repeat business. The new scope is fine . Very clear and just what i wanted. I am able to hold 1/2" groups.
