Most Helpful Positive Review good buy folks
This scope has great light transmission and clarity. Fog & weather proof. Can't be beat for the money. I've taken many deer and other critters in very low light conditions from 50-600 yards with this particular model.I own 5 of these. None have ever let me down. Highly recommend this scope
Most Helpful Negative Review Unlucky Illuminated Reticle
I've had this scope on my bushmaster 308 orc for 2-3 years now. The rifle's main purpose is hunting pigs so I wanted something that could get enough magnification to make ethical kill shots while also being able to turn down the mag for use with a thermal clip on. What I've found is that: a) the di...

A Quality Scope I Will Buy Again.

by Turk, from PA, United States Written on June 20, 2018
For the Price, this is one of the Best long-rifle scopes I have had the pleasure to use. Clarity and Parallax Side Adjustments were Right on the Money. Though I usually prefer Mil-Dot Reticle scopes, this BDC Reticle scope, in 50mm, is more accurate then I had anticipated beyond 300 Meters. A Very Fair Price for a Good Quality optic.
Pros:
  • Clarity and Accurate Ranging
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • 100 to 300 Meter Target and Hunting

Great rifle scope!

This is a great scope with excellent glass for clarity. I would prefer the tactical turret but, nonetheless- this is a great piece of equipment that I am sure I will have many years of use. I would def recommend to others!
Pros:

Cons:
  • plastic caps

Very bright, love the Nikoplex reticle.

by barefoot1, from CA, United States Written on June 15, 2016
I have 3 other Nikon scopes 2 BDC reticles, and 1 Mildot. I always "hold over" on my shots when hunting, just habit. So I don't use the other reticles except for target shooting. Great price on this as the new FFP model has come out, and it has it's advantages and disadvantages. I'll stick with this older model for the price.
Best Used for:
  • Long range hunting and target shooting.

NOT PLEASED

by Gary Miller, Verified Owner from MO, United States Written on June 14, 2016
I have a Nikon variable on my Remington LTR .308 win. This is one of the best scopes, I have ever owned. I believe is the Monarch 3 and I believe it is the Monarch 6.5-20x44 AO. The glass is crystal clear, the adjustments stay where they are suppose to be. I have zero complaints with this scope, and it looks quality from one end to the other. However, I can't say that much for this last one. It looks flimsy and assemble by who knows who or where for that matter.....no quality workmanship whatsoever. I'm 75 years of age and my eye's aren't like they use to be. But, when I ask for a illuminated cross-hair, I expect one , that I can see. Bushnell has one, I can see for 1/4 the cost of the Nikon. Guess, I will be going to the Bushnell in the future. By the way, the Leupold scope does not display as well as the Bushnell.

Great Scope

by tink, from MA, United States Written on August 17, 2015
This is a great scope, bright at max magnification. I shot a 8" x 8" target at 750 yards with a Browning X Bolt 223 by using the Nikon app on my smartphone to figure bullet drop. Wow what a great app. If you do long range target shooting on a budget this is the scope for you.
Pros:
  • Brightness
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • target/range accuracy

Reticle preference

by spwarrior, from AL, United States Written on March 21, 2015
I have several Nikon scopes and I bought this one to replace another Nikon just the same but with a different reticle. I prefer the Niplex reticle to the BDC, but still for light gathering and clarity I recommend Nikon. Those who prefer the BDC would like the one I took off, both are 3.5 by 14 in 50mm. Either reticle you prefer Nikon is what I buy and use.

Awesome clarity!

by Richard, from ND, United States Written on February 24, 2015
Received this new scope and have it mounted on my Browning X bolt 300 win mag. Haven't gotten to the range yet,
but am completely impressed with the clarity of the scope. The bullet drop compensator is very easy to understand,
and Nikon has a website up "Nikon Spoton" where you can get the ballistics for the exact brand & bullet you shoot.
This will be a great aid in long range shooting.
Mine did not come with mounting base & scope rings, but I had already purchased them seperately.

Nikon Prostaff 5 BdC

by Shawnee On Delaware, PA, from PA, United States Written on November 12, 2014
Really nice scope. I shot my friend's DPMS .308 with this optic and had to get my own. Crystal clear image and I just love the BDC reticle. Fits perfect in the Nikon M223 1" scope mount. Mounted it to my POF P-308 and it held up on the recoil. Just awesome clarity through the 50mm lense. My only wish would be an ARD for the front. The sunshades are hard to find for this scope. I have a Leupold VX 3 which costs double what this one does. The Nikon Pro Staff 5 BDC reticle is my favorite between the two.
Pros:
  • Price, Quality, Magnification Level
  • Image and clarity
Cons:
  • No ARD available
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • long range shooting
