Toophless's Review of Nitecore NPL25 GL 900 Lumens LED Weapon Light w/Green Laser Sight

I needed a new light for a new handgun and this one fit the bill. Nitecore isn't high end priced but in my opinion it has high end quality and high end customer service. When I saw it used a magnetic charger, I didn't look any further. I figured it was something like the OLight magnetic setups. It is not. You have to remove the proprietary battery, which is quick-release easy, and then charge it. At first I was a bit bummed until I found they sell that battery for a reasonable price and a two battery charger for an equally reasonable price, so I ordered those. Now I'm pretty happy about the idea. If my light is dead, I don't have to charge it before use, I can swap batteries and let the dead one charge while I go out and play. The adjustability of the pick rail mount lets you get the light snugged back against the trigger guard nicely for whatever handgun you are using I'd suspect. That's another feature OLight also does well, but this one actually seems a little more solid. It isn't too wide either. It will ride on a Tisas PX-5.7 Raptor wich I picked up on the cheap just to experience the 5.7 round. It fits well and looks like the blocking process for when I build the kydex holster will be a breeze. No big, knobby controls. Everything is tight and narrow, even with the laser.
Pros:
  • Very adjustable mount. Narrower than expected.
Cons:
  • Proprietary battery but they don't charge a lot for spares.
Best Used for:
  • Any handgun with a light rail as far as I can tell.
