We recently bought a condo with a full ocean view. Initially wanting the ubiquitous brass telescope for long range viewing, the more I researched the subject the more I learned that most were more decor than functional. Quality of optics was usually sub-par. My internet searches always seemed to come back to the Oberwerk. No doubt it's expensive, however, this is the real deal. I can clearly see whales several miles out in the channel, and the detail on ships is amazing. Looking into the night sky, I aimed at what I figured was a planet just below the crescent moon. It turned out to be Jupiter, and I could easily see five of its moons! I am very satisfied with this instrument.
Pros: Very powerful, quality optics
Cons: Very big, you won't be moving it around the room often
