Best machete I've ever owned.

by Toophless, from NC, United States Written on July 11, 2023
Out of the box you will raise an eyebrow at this thing. It is thin and that might give you doubts. I have Fiskars, Gerber, SOG and Kershaw (others I've forgetten about) machetes that look like they could win midievil battles. But no, those will wear you out for no reason. They are heavy. This thing lops off 1" branches with the flick of a wrist. I've never been as surprised by a blade, fixed, folding or otherwise... and I own far more than I should. We had a massive white oak come down due to ants. This cut through the branches so the chainsaw could access the real meat. I was carrying this and the heavy Fiskars but this did most of the work. When I needed to chop something more significant I used the Fiskars (which I also love.) The Ontario edge is still intact. No chips, no bends. Lots of wood-scuffs but no metal damage I can see. I have not sharpened it but I did give the handle a few coats of mineral oil for some protection when it was new. I'm pretty much blown away by this tool. I've destroyed machetes before and this thing holds up quite well. I know loppers could be used instead but one-handed operation makes this better/quicker until you get to thicker diameter wood.
Pros:
  • Efficient and impressively well made.
Cons:
  • No scabbard or sheath.
Best Used for:
  • Brush up to light limbing. Zombies.
