The knife is great and is everything people say it is. The grip has a rubberized coating and has grooves in it for non slip. The grip is thick to make it not turn in the hand under hard use. I am not sure what the open part of the blade is for? The only down side is it is a bit thick for pocket carry even though it has a pocket clip. If it was just a bit more narrow it would be perfect.
