Most Helpful Positive Review Best Tripod Around
Extremely durable and versitle. Removeable head, QD plate, and a removable leg. This tripod is perfect for photographers and/or shooters on the go. If you need a monopod, unscrew the removeable leg and install the head and you are good to go. Pros: Adaptability
Most Helpful Negative Review seemed robust and durable, but ...
... total krap. used about 3 dozen times, only for a spotting scope at the rifle range and treated with kid gloves. most of this tripod is plastic, and cheap stuff to boot. first, the plastic riser tightening bolt cap snapped completely off the riser. 2 weeks later the platform swivel tightening...

OPMOD APT PRO Limited Edition Professional Tripod

by MAC, from TX, United States Written on August 16, 2015
After the third use it was rendered worthless. Initially very happy with the product, it was highly adjustable, and amazingly stable holding a 5+ pound spotting scope. On only my third use of the tripod I was digiscoping with my Vortex Razor HD, looking at Saturn's rings. I had to continually adjust the tripod due to the wind that evening. The handle adjustment threads that are inset into the tripod stripped completely. I have yet to attempt to return the product, but it literally happened a week after I purchased it.
Pros:
  • highly adjustable
  • Very stable
Cons:
  • Adjustment Threads Stripped
Best Used for:
  • Lighter Camera Work (Probably)

really liked the steady qualities of the tripod ease of use and setting up
also the fact can use as monopod or bipod mode .
another fine quality is the levels allows you to evenly balance the tripod for better fine focusing and long distance shooting

Perfect for "en plein air" painting.

by Whitebird, from ID, United States Written on May 14, 2015
I needed something fairly light weight yet sturdy enough to hold my Guerilla box full of painting supplies.

Pros: I loved the padded legs which will be very nice when I go out in the cold or when it's extremely hot in the sun. I also loved the quick connect features and the leveling devices. The monopod feature is a nice extra though I am not sure I'll use that much. The tripod feels and looks sturdy and should prove its worth after a few outings.

Cons: The tripod didn't come with any instructions... just a plain box with nothing much on it.
At the top of each leg is a slide out plastic piece. It took me a while before I could understand their function. These act as leg stoppers at 2 positions. Slide out part way for a narrower stance, slide out all the way for a broad stance.

Almost all the "adjustments" were loose on arrival. At first I thought the head was poorly set in or funky somehow then I found the ring to tighten that.
Pros:
  • quick release base
  • Sturdy, nice looking
  • mono pod
  • padded legs
Cons:
  • no instructions included
  • confusing to set up (at first)
Best Used for:
  • plein air painting
  • Photography
  • Misc.

Nice! but very nice for the price!!

by JL, from LA, United States Written on February 19, 2015
Very strong and nicely put together tri-pod! I had to send my first one back as it had a stripped out thread that is just one of those things that happens when stuff is massed produced! No biggie as OpticsPlanet took care of it. I just wished they made a bag for it.

Awesome tripod!

by Jake, from CA, United States Written on February 14, 2015
What a great, sturdy tripod for the price. Definitely a great more affordable addition to any photographer's arsenal, or even shooter or animal watcher's gear. It comes with a quick detach plate which works well. It also has bubble levels everywhere to help out photographers. I will probably use this once in a while with my Cannon Mk 3 5D, as well as my spotting scope for shooting range use.

This may not be the lightest, or sturdiest tripod in the world, but it is very versatile. Can be converted into a monopod, and the QD plate just makes things so much faster and easier. Range of heights will definitely meet average needs, and the padded legs add some comfort during use. If the padded foam were left out, it would probably save a little bit of weight, but not a deal breaker at all. While not really a backpacking tripod, it will get the job done with flying colors.

Love this tripod

This Optics planet tripod is solid and at a very fair price. Light and easy to transport. I can set up a spotting scope and camera in just a couple minutes. Keep a quarter or a nickel handy to fasten the bracket to your optics/camera. The finger tight fastening loop doesn't give you alot of leverage to ensure your optics device or camera from slipping. Only thing I would recommend is a protective nylon bag to protect the fasteners and some of the leveling instrumentation. Good Job OP.

Great tripod with lots of features

by jrtheiii, from NC, United States Written on November 17, 2014
I purchased the Opmod APT Pro tripod based on the low price and positive reviews. I use the tripod to support my spotting scope for long distance shooting. The tripod is well built and provides a sturdy support for my scope. The tripod is adjustable to just about any position I desire. I am 6' tall and this tripod accommodates my height so that I am not hunched over when locating my target. There are levels built into the framework that adds a nice touch, although for my intended purpose are not essential. In summary this Opmod tripod has every element I need and more. I highly recommend this product for my fellow shooters and anyone who has a camera or scope.

great tripod

by tuscan97, from CO, United States Written on August 29, 2014
has the features and quality of tripods costing much more. Another very good OPMod product. Handles my spotting scope very well, and height adjusts quickly. The quick release, quick attach base is very handy. Thanks!

OPOMD APT Pro tripod best value.

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on June 5, 2014
There's nothing in the under $100.00 range that comes close. The head is fine and has a quick-detach plate and bubble level, a leg unscrews to be used with the head as a monopod, and it has padding on all three legs for more comfortable shoulder carry. Best value out there, made for us with our specifications. Good product, excellent value.
Pros: Best value

Unbelievable value

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on May 13, 2014
I have several high end tripods (over $400)with all kind of heads (over $300)and they are fantastic, but for less than $100 you get everything in a lightweight "package". I use this with a spotting scope, but would use with proDSLR and lens under 10 pounds combined. Loaded with bubble levels.
Pros: Every feature and function
Cons: No guide
