Amazing Long-Distance Light
After two weeks of using this light as both a weapon mounted hunting light and handheld spot light, I can easily say this Optical Dynamics Illuminator is amazing for 4 reasons:
1. There is no halo or beam spill. Sometimes we see long-range weapon lights needing a hood or halo shield to help contain or concentrate the beam. However, with the OD 40 you get a solid beam, without spill, emitted as a circle of light.
2. The illumination can be focused and the mounting system (comes with the kit) can be adjusted. With the light, you can zoom out to scan the area; then, you can zoom in to focus on ...

Well maybe not exactly what I expected but useful anyway
Solid built, quality mount, 2 options of mount size is a real value. The "white" light is amazing. Wide to narrow, strong illumination. Not so much the red. While I can see and identify at 200 yds white, maybe see and identify red at 60 to 80 yards. Depending on what you are attempting to detect, that is an issue since gray coyotes and hogs blend with bush background. Not an issue so far looking across a plowed field to about 120 yards. Bugs appear to not react to red.
I have yet to try the green since my experience with green spooks my horses,and every hog within 80 yards. The green light blends a bit much with trees and vegetation. My favorite mosquitoes love to come to the green light.
I put the OD 40mm on a 308 semi and expect good results for the first 2 shots, white or red. I am searching for an optics grade rubylith red filter to substitute out for the thicker plastic red insert.

Couldn't believe my eyes
Ive been getting into predator hunting in the last few months and hit the jackpot when i purchased the od40! First thing through my head was "i cant believe this is legal!" It met and surpassed all of my expectations...crisp edge even at 200yrds. Mounting was a snap on my 30mm scope. Im still baffled every time i turn it on!
