Most Helpful Positive Review Excellent recoil reduction.
I've only shot one 2gun match and one range day with this since I installed it. Installation of the buffer was easy with the only difficulty being driving out the roll pin in my bolt to remove the weight. For testing I ran 112 rounds of a mix of 124gr AAC and Belom along with a 33rd mag that I loade...

Most Helpful Negative Review Extremely difficult to rack. Makes weapon impractical for competition or defense.
I'm so disappointed. I read the reviews and watched the videos saying this was difficult to rack, but thought that how bad could it be, I'll just get a large charging handle to compensate. Wow was I wrong. You have to break your grip and position on the weapon in order to get enough leverage to char...

If you have an AR-9, you want this.

by Winston, from FL, United States Written on December 6, 2025
Installed on my suppressed Mk2 9mm from griffin. The recoil impulse went from making my collar bone ache after a few hundred rounds with a pistol brace to a light tap that doesnt take me off target at all. It doesn't quite reach rimfire territory, but it's so very close. Charging is more difficult, but still can be done quickly with 1 hand and a normal ambi handle even with my unimpressive upper body strength. I can now run the trigger as fast as my fingers will allow without coming off target until the massive cloud of gas makes my eyes burn. The gas to the face IS lessened, I no longer have to stop partway through a 32 round mag to blink away tears, but it's not a perfect cure by any metric when running suppressed. If you have a heavy bolt weight and buffer, expect a noticeably lighter gun as well.
Pros:
  • Recoil Reduction
  • weight reduction
Cons:
  • Harder charging
Best Used for:
  • Fixing the one real issue with AR9s (recoil impulse)

Good product

I bought this for a PSA AR-V 9mm with a Rarebreed L3 selective fire trigger. Although not rated for fully auto, it worked quite well on full FRT. It softens the recoil a little on semi-auto, however, the difference is not like night and day from a heavy buffer and spring, but it is noticeable. I don't know if the $200 price tag is worth it, but I'm keeping it in the gun.
Pros:
  • Delays bolt rearward motion and softens recoil.
Cons:
  • For the money it doesn't make that much of a difference.
Best Used for:
  • 9 mm AR's

I would say reduces muzzle rise by 75%

by Steven Merla, from AZ, United States Written on November 4, 2025
This is coming from someone who shoots a JP-5. Easy to install or swap out . I replaced my JP silent capture spring with the Roller delay buffer. My gun shoots awesome. Here's the issue . It's takes almost 3 to 4 times the pressure and strength to cycle the rifle. If I get it and lock it back it's okay. Or if I have a chamber flag in it & the bolts is not all the ways closed it's okay. But if the bolt is closed it's a bear. I had it initially in a side charger (Gibbz Arms on top of a JP lower) configuration and it was very hard to hand cycle, had to wear a glove just to prevent cuts. So then I put it in a QC10 rear charger and it was much better. Still hard to cycle but much better. I do compete and I got the same from several others who had purchased the system . This for me was more of a let's see purchase. I have several PCC's & after shooting my JP-5. I did shoot it in a match & did fine but had no empty starts and my bolt locks back on empty . I wouldn't get another one but I will keep & use the one I have. I do not regret the purchase . Reducing 75 % felt recoil for under $200.00 is unheard of .
Pros:
  • Easy to install
  • cost
  • 75 % less fetl recoil
  • You will shoot better
Cons:
  • Hard to cycle by hand
Best Used for:
  • 9mm PCC

Flat and smooth

by BigNasty, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on October 29, 2025
A bit more umph to charge it but worth every penny. Had a rtb bolt and adjustable weight deadfall buffer, jummpy little sbr. Added this in and was getting fist sized mag dumps. 100% worth it.

It actually works

by Michael Edelson, Verified Owner from PA, United States Written on August 29, 2025
I regretted buying the Daniel Defense PCC at first. It's an excellent carbine, but it is just direct blowback. The hydraulic buffer softened recoil considerably but didn't do anything for muzzle rise. When I saw this roller delay buffer, I thought, "No way it can be that easy." But I had to try.

It was that easy.

This thing really works. It makes a massive difference. The only downside is that it becomes hard to charge (hard to pull the charging handle back because you have to overcome the rollers...hence "roller delay"). It's very hard with one finger (relatively) but pretty easy with two fingers (one on each side of the charging handle). To me that's not really a downside, just something to remember. In any case, it's well worth it. Without any recoil mitigation, it keeps all hits within 1/2 to 1/3 of a USPSA A zone at 10 yards. With recoil mitigation (good, solid grip), that area shrinks. I use mine with a comp, but without the roller delay buffer, the comp didn't do all that much.

So now I love my Daniel Defense PCC. It's a night and day difference from stock.
Pros:
  • Easy to install
  • Actually works!
Cons:
  • Harder to charge/rack

This roller delayed AR 9 buffer is definitely a must!

by Rich G, Verified Owner from NV, United States Written on August 9, 2025
I was having bolt bounce issues shooting a cheep BCA side charger AR so I decided to try this roller delayed buffer & this thing seems to have done the trick , I’ve only shot about 5-600 rounds so far & all is good only time will tell how good it holds up but it changed the recoil impulse for sure . No regrets picking this up from optics planet who had it for the lowest price around .
Pros:
  • Recoil Reduction
Cons:
  • May be a little hard to charge if you do not have a side charger

Huge recoil reduction!

by Billy York, Verified Owner from KS, United States Written on March 22, 2025
I removed the slug in my carrier, and installed this. Cut my recoil by significant amount. I'd say 30-50%, it's very noticeable.
