This grip performs as described. - Pachmayr Guardian Grip For S&w J-frame Round Butt Black

I installed this on my S&W 642 with no difficulty. I had already removed the roll pin from the bottom of the frame in order to install the previous frame so that did not hold up the installation. I found the extension to reliably pop out with very little pressure on the button. What became evident was that it will probably pop out when I don't want it to. I am not sure if that is a problem or not because I haven't carried the gun much - I don't know whether having it pop out in my pocket will make it difficult to draw so I'll leave that issue alone. What I did not like was the coarseness of the stippling in the plastic. It is hard plastic and the stippling is not very comfortable. I guess I have wimpy hands. What I did was cut a rubber grip sleeve to fit over the grip but not over the button and shot it for the first time last week. It was like having a pinky rest on the bottom of a magazine and did what the grip was supposed to do. I definitely shot better with it than I would have with the original boot grip. For now I am keeping it on the gun as I consider it an improvement.
