I installed this on my S&W 642 with no difficulty. I had already removed the roll pin from the bottom of the frame in order to install the previous frame so that did not hold up the installation. I found the extension to reliably pop out with very little pressure on the button. What became evident was that it will probably pop out when I don't want it to. I am not sure if that is a problem or not because I haven't carried the gun much - I don't know whether having it pop out in my pocket will make it difficult to draw so I'll leave that issue alone. What I did not like was the coarseness of the stippling in the plastic. It is hard plastic and the stippling is not very comfortable. I guess I have wimpy hands. What I did was cut a rubber grip sleeve to fit over the grip but not over the button and shot it for the first time last week. It was like having a pinky rest on the bottom of a magazine and did what the grip was supposed to do. I definitely shot better with it than I would have with the original boot grip. For now I am keeping it on the gun as I consider it an improvement.

This grip is exactly what it says it is and it does exactly what it is suppose to do. It allows me to continue to enjoy the small size of the factory grip while I am carrying my gun concealed and quickly & easily deploys to the equivalent of a full size grip giving me the additional control that I was seeking. And it makes it possible for me to better control hotter loads when I decide to use them.
I'm keeping it on my gun.
