Best bang for your buck despite some flaws
This is my first thermal but I have been hunting with night vision for years. Just like with my first ATN NV's it gets you in the game and as about the least expensive 640 unit you can buy, I had to try it out. No regrets and it ups my night varmint hunt capabilities tremendously. I have since upgraded to an AGM Spectrum NV which is an amazing tool. I find that I use the Pard for scanning and short work and the AGM for long distance shots. As a small, lightweight package you could use it as a hand held to locate critters in the brush that would be hard to see with NV. I have mine on a 6.5 Grendel and it is very effective out to about 250 yards.
Pros:
- Price, 640 resolution, good image resolution
Cons:
- Eats batteries, but easy to swap spares, less than intuitive controls and menus
Best Used for:
- Short work and scanning, locating

Thermal is a game changer
I often wondered what it would be like to have thermal for vision in the dark. I contemplated buying one for years because of the price. After purchasing this one I wish I would have done it 20 years ago. It is a total game changer. Once it is cited in there is no turning back. I have not missed one single animal since I put it on my rifle. This is the best optics I have ever purchased.
