Most Helpful Positive Review Pretty good
It works, full size grips work on it but you do have to make sure the safety works, I used short 45 degree safety and didn't have any problems. Feels like heavy duty plastic. Over all not disappointed with it.
Most Helpful Negative Review It is what it is
The Pearce AR 15 grip simply is what it is. It is a grip that mounts on an AR 15, that allows the user to mount a pair of 1911 pistol grip panels on it, and thereby presents a different look than the normal AR pistol grip. This grip functions as advertised, and is of good quality. Be advised th...

1911 grips didn't fit right

by Jayel Dubya, Verified Owner from AL, United States Written on July 26, 2025
Corners stuck off, had to be trimmed. 1911 grip interferes with selector, had to trim the top. Too expensive. I can't remember the brand but there's an alu one I intend to try. Being a fudd, I can't get this 1911 grip idea out of my mind

Good, with minor modifications.

by JTJG94, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on August 30, 2022
So like others have said, the grip panels will require modification depending on your safety selector. Mine I had fo shave off maybe an 1/8th of an inch. I just used a flap disc and light pressure on the G10 grips and it worked good. The bushings are one piece with the grip, so if you want to us Slim line grips you have to use a sharp razor blade to cut the bushings down. Overall I would say it's worth it to use regular grips. Even with the modifications required to use slim grips I would still do it again, but switch to a push button safety.
Pros:
  • Price, Finish
Cons:
  • Potentially needs modification depending on taste

Great item but be aware

by Mars, from AL, United States Written on December 7, 2021
If you want that custom look to your ar or shotgun that can accept the ar grip, this is for you. To get around the safety hitting the grip, I purchased 2 sets of ambidextrous safety switches and used the shorter switch on both sides.

Exactly as Described

by Nick, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on June 27, 2021
Bought this to put on my personal rifle. Fit my full size 1911 grips perfectly. However, my Milspec selector was too long and was blocked by the grip from moving to the fire position. I wound up using a shortened, stubby selector that I already had. I don’t know if this happens with all 1911 grips, but that’s what happened with mine. Other than that, excellent product.

Pearce should redesign the product to fit 1911 grips without having to cut/shave/sand them.

by Bergie, Verified Owner from MN, United States Written on January 6, 2021
I love my 1911, so for my new build, I thought it'd be great to use the grips I have floating around for my pistol. In theory, this is a good idea. But in practice -this has already been brought up- you'll need to sand or cut, or shave off part of the grip because it won't really fit the frame of the mounted grip onto the receiver. My new build is using an MDT chassis that takes the standard AR grip....just not the Pearce one I guess. The standard 1911 grip panels will hang over the grip frame; my suggestion to Pearce is to redesign the grip frame in such a way that the grip panels fit solely onto it instead of overlapping onto the receiver- which may then not accommodate the 1911 grip slabs. Pearce could then make a good product great.
Pros:
  • Good idea
Cons:
  • Doesn't fit the 1911 grip on gun
Best Used for:
  • ...the fun of it.

Great grip

by Wayne, from IN, United States Written on September 18, 2020
Completely changes the feel of the rifle. Rotates your hand up to a more natural position. Could stand to be a bit thinner, but overall a great addition. Those with bigger hands won't have a any problem.
Pros:
  • Rotates hand up
Cons:
  • A bit too thick with certain 1911 grips

Looks great.

by JC, from WI, United States Written on October 21, 2019
I have test fitted it on my lower. The product looks and feels solid. My only advice would be to not buy cheap grips. I have bought a cheap set. They do not fit the grip without the spacers. They make the too thick. Not the grips fault, that is totally on me.
Pros:
  • Solid and sturdy
Cons:
  • None

Great product

by David, from TX, United States Written on October 10, 2018
This is just the thing to give my AR an older classic look. Great product, it's quality built, and at a fair price.
It does fit tightly on the lower receiver, I had to start it on a corner and wiggle it. If it bothers you you can always takes a little off the inside edge with some sandpaper or a file. Handles are better tight than loose.
They used UPS to deliver. Delivery by UPS to USPS still confuses me. Why not just send it by USPS and get rid of the 2 to 4 day shipping delay. I still received it in about 11 or 12 days, so it's not too bad. Tracking the package doesn't work well.

Pearce Grip

by Loren, from KS, United States Written on June 9, 2018
These grips are excellent! Looks fantastic on an AR. I bought for a kind of WW2 retro themed AR. They matched up perfect with a set of Kimber wood 1911 grips I had laying around. Definitely would put on another AR of mine.

Great grip

by Jermaine, from FL, United States Written on April 23, 2018
I have these grips installed on three of my builds. Easy to install on the lower receiver and to put on 1911 style grips. I would highly recommend to anyone that is looking to customize their builds or to make them stand out.
Pros:
  • Easy to install
Cons:
  • more colors needed
