Tater's Review of Precision Reflex PRI M16/AR15 Carry Handle Mount
I have an old cheapie AR that mainly rides in the truck, it's got an A2 fixed handle upper since I got that for free. I bought the lower 1/3 style to go with a Romeo 7 dot sight. To be honest, I didn't expect much since a lot of goosenecks wobble pretty bad. Luckily, PRI seems to have solved all that nonsense, as this gooseneck is much more sturdy than what I used to see back in the late 90's/early 2000's. Speaking of that time period, the instructions were a total blast from the past and featured an old Bushnell Holosight prominently.
Anyways, PRI really beefed up the transition on this mount and added some stabilizers to the left and right. I also appreciated the big notch in the mounting screw to allow for final tightening with a screwdriver turned sideways. In my experience finger tight basically means it's not tight, so it's much appreciated. With my particular red dot, the iron sights are in the lower 3rd as advertised allowing for a pretty clear view and a nice heads up shooting stance, just like I wanted.
Sighting in went really quick, and quick offhand shooting gave fist sized groups at 25 meters, honestly better than I was expecting. Performance identical to my friend's AR with a dot bolted directly to a flat top upper who was shooting beside me. The extra material and design work seems to have paid off. I know this setup is a rather niche application these days but if you've got an older style upper I wouldn't waste time with any other mount and just grab this one.
