As to be expected another solod quality product from PRI. Although it doesn't clear the old surefire m500 handguards nor M4 clamshells, It must be used with skinny clamshells or aftermarket handgaurds.

While the description doesn't mention it, it's clear to me that this mount is made to fit an A2 carry handle. The instructions included with the mount show an A2 carry handle and as received, it did not fit my A1 style upper receiver. When the mounting screw was inserted, the nose of the mount pitched upwards out of line. The mount could be rocked back and forth. This wasn't a surprise as I have encountered the issue before and am aware that the sight trough of the A1 carry handle has a different contour than the A2. With careful hand fitting I was able to get the mount to sit flat in the carry handle's sight trough. It appears to be a secure and solid mount. I'll be mounting an old-school Trijicon Reflex on it once I modify the mount to lower the sight; this will allow at least a lower 1/3 cowitness.
I recommend this mount for anyone looking to mount a cowitness RDS or reflex sight on an A2. A1 folks, I recommend it also but be aware you'll have to do a little hand fitting. Go slow, use Dykem as you remove material and you can make it fit just fine.

It seems that this is an OK option for adding a dot/reflex sight to an upper with a carry handle, if there is nothing else that can be done. While co-witness or lower third cowitness may be possible, the restriction of the iron sight picture within the carry handle makes it useless except for maybe casual or bench shooting. The iron sights also take up a chunk of what is visible through the optic, micro red dots more so.
For the price, and with no other options, it may work for some but will likely be discarded soon. This and similar items can be found for a few dollars and tried on several rifles with friends, as I did. I'd recommend sinking resources into a flattop.
Pros:
- readily available and easy install

Unfortunately, this did not work for my setup. My upper receiver has a removable carry handle and a2 drop in handguard. If I were to switch to a pic rail handguard or any handguard with a lower profile, it would have been perfect. It’s just not the aesthetic I wanted. But I do recommend it based on quality. Had to return and go in a different direction.

This mount arrived quickly and safely. Really nice and light and exactly as pictured on this site. Unfortunately this mount did not fit my Rock River Arms A2 detachable carry handle. My carry handle has a beveled edge that prohibited this mount from sitting flush against the mount and rail. Too bad. I really loved the look and proposed function of this mount. My suggestion is make sure your carry handle doesn’t have a bevel or shoulder on the forward lower outside handle surface before purchasing.

I have aging eyes and, much to my dismay, cannot focus on iron sights well enough to be able to shoot like I used to. So, my next best option was to mount an optic to my match AR-15. I bought this mount to affix a red dot sight. I am a little leary of this type of mounting system, as I have tried an optic mount on an M1A, to find it did not provide a solid lock up for the optic. As far as I can currently tell, this AR-15 mount should be very solid. I can feel no discernible movement in the mount when grabbed and torqued by hand. My group center does not shift as it has with my M1A. I am, so far, very pleased with this mounting system and would recommend it to anyone who needs to mount an optic to a fixed carry handle AR type rifle or carbine.
Pros:
- EASY INSTALL
- Solid Mounting
- relatively affordadale
Best Used for:
- AR fixed carry handle rifle/carbine

My friend was looking to mount a Sig Romeo5 optic onto their A2 upper and this did the trick. They didn't want to go any further up so this fancy drop forward mount is a genius idea. So far its worked out very well for them. Install could not be any easier.

Mounting optics on a carry handle isn't the most straight forward thing. Mounting on top, you can't get a good cheek weld and can run into canting issues. This mount allows me to Co witness the red Dot with the iron sights in the lower third, I'm using an EoTech 512. If you have a preban rifle like me and don't want to swap out to a flat top upper, this is the way to go.
Pros:
- Perfect Fit
- easy to install
- Ease Of Use
