When you get this, the notch on the top will be flush with the rod. You'll need to loosen the set screw on the side to get it to come out. Then screw in the set screw and allow the tab to sit on top. When you slide it into the receiver, it will also secure itself to the receiver from rotating ag...

Most Helpful Negative Review Broke during first use
I didn't even have this for three days before it broke while trying to remove barrel nut from ar10. I don't recommend this for removing barrel nuts at all. Unless you're building a new rifle. So buy with caution just a heads up.

Presma AR-15 .223 Barrel Vise Block Rod

by TomH, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on February 1, 2026
Excellent product. Does exactly what it was intended to do without any issues or excess cost of unneeded features. Highly recommended. Do not hesitate because it is made from aluminum and not steel, it is hardened aluminum and hard coat annodized so it is more than sturdy enough for the intended job. A great product!
Pros:
  • High Quality, reasonable cost.
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Barrel install and removal.

Good enough

by Andy, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on September 25, 2025
Only issue is the set screw for the receiver support stud works itself loose. Otherwise works great. I used it to get the barrel off an aero m5.

Does the job

by Nicholas Hartman, Verified Owner from PA, United States Written on July 27, 2025
Worked great for installing muzzle device. Way cheaper than than other reciever rods. If I was building a new rifle every other month, sure I'd spend the extra on the more expensive rods, but as I probably won't touch this thing again for years, it was good enough to get the job done and not break the bank

Gets the Job Done

by PastorB, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on May 10, 2025
Excellent tool for holding the upper steady for barrel work or optics mounting. Sturdy and well made at a fair price. If you need something to hold your AR-10 upper receiver in place, this is your tool.

D Douglas 269

by D Douglas, Verified Owner from WI, United States Written on April 26, 2025
Very happy with it , works great! I have run it up to 80 FT POUNDS with no deformation on the barrel extension lugs (I was told it was able to handle 95 ) so being aluminum, I am extremely happy with it and the price point! I will be purchasing the ar-15 version soon.
Pros:
  • Price
Cons:
  • Sail could be longer for more support
Best Used for:
  • Barrel nuts and muzzle devices
Would recommend: Yes

Great Action Rod

by Collin Pruitt, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on April 5, 2025
Worked perfect in my AR10 build. If you're confused about the .936 gas journal, all it means is that it will work with AR10 barrels/uppers and not AR15. Has nothing to do with the gas port size on the barrel. (So will work with an ar10 barrel with a .750 gas port)

Poor fitment with lugs

by Jack-O, Verified Owner from MT, United States Written on April 1, 2025
It does not fully fit tightly with the lugs on 308 barrel. It allows too much flex in the receiver while torquing the barrel nut. Easily 10 degrees. Pacific machine and tool might be a better option.
