deerharvest's Review of Primary Arms SLx 1-6x24mm Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube, First Focal Plane (FFP)

Just to clarify height above barrel.. This and any scope on a AK will be 3 1/2 in. (using a 1 1/2 in. high mount) above barrel center and what is needed in a ballistic app for zeroing and a print out for a dope card sheet. Due to gas tube block above barrel, iron sights and picatinny side mount rail are 2" above barrel center. I used a 1 1/2 in high 2" offset for eye relief for center of scope is at edge of picatinny rail and eyepiece is at edge of dust cover. And to note with the TRYBE attached you will need a little more eye relief (pull back a little) for clarity of target. If using a dust cover rail the scope barely clears the iron sights so the TRYBE mount may not go on. If zeroing at 25 yds. tip of chevron on center of target but hits are 2" low for 100 yd zero. Also you will need a high cheek rest to see through scopes. I was almost center of target after mounting at 25 yds and A few clicks 2 in. low. With a 50 MOA height no need for a 20 moa cantilever due height. The TRYBE also has to be centered which only takes a few movements unlike a scopes clicks. But remember to keep that little allen wrench (paint orange) and penny near, loosen and adjust and tighten again between shots (read instructions). To not center with a barrel laser you will be off A LOT.
I have been hunting for most of 50 years with scopes mostly and Front Focal Plane best to come along and for something to draw your eye to center the chevron is superb. For hunting tip of chevron to bottom inside is 100 to 200 a normal range for deer in the woods and the first hash if at belly @ 6x it will be a perfect hit. I like a zoom to count horn and check neck size or to see if doe is carrying.
Pros:
  • Best reticle
  • great eye relief, clear lens.easy controls
  • best zoom
  • best lifetime warranty
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • Plinking & target practice
